Re: Trailmarkers - warning received
I think you forgot the point why this thread exist:
@Spekkje-PGO received the warning email because something changes from than (where his POIs were perfectly ok) to now (they aren't good enough anymore).
To hold users breathless waiting if they get banned, is the mean point of this discussion here.
Re: LDS and Niantic Games
I have been catching up reading the thread and I think generally people need to take a moment to breathe. And perhaps take time to consider if some things that are being said are too far removed from Wayfarer.
Discussing topics that have an element that relates to a religion can quickly raise emotive responses and that the nature of forum posts and words used can turn a reasonable discussion into one that is not being productive and cause negativity.
It does not mean to say we should not discuss them. It is in my opinion important that as far as we can, we put the religion aspect mostly to one side and focus on the wayfarer issues and principles that are at the core.
When we discuss topics we are often looking for clear answers, perhaps we should be more comfortable accepting that wont always be the case.
Re: Violations at Tao Dan park
How disappointing!
Also Vietnamese but destroying local Pokestops.
This is truly outrageous to the Gaming community.
It seems that after this article was successful, the number of players also disappeared. Does this satisfy the author's needs? Reduce area player load and remove Pokestops for your own pleasure????
The community will not ignore you.
Re: Violations at Tao Dan park
What does the author intend to do?
Destroy Pokestops? The place with the most players in the area.
I think you've gone beyond your limits.
And I don't even see any violations here, where can anyone do that? If refesh loses Pokestops, the author will be subject to both public and physical pressure if the community tries to find that person.
Don't do such stupid, thoughtless things. Changing your account name to go to Report Pokestop like this cannot escape the truth of who you are.
Re: Trailmarkers - warning received
But you're not, in fact you're doing the exact opposite.
And if you go back to what Aaron's comment was that sparked all of this, being just one of many markers along a trail is only a small part of the statement and arguably not even the most impactful part. He leads with a concrete description of what is and isn't acceptable, and that's what people will most likely latch on to. What if your local trail that is absolutely amazing for exercise has just a single marker but it has only a colored shape and an arrow? Well then sorry no wayspot for you at all.
And while i'm absolutely nowhere near the "moar pokeystops" mindset, your obsession with having very few wayspots is just not in line with what 99% of wayfarers want or think is correct. And for what purpose? I've been making satirical remarks about your type of thinking since OPR first started and thankfully the number of folks with that mindset is as small as ever but y'all sure make a lot of noise.
Re: Violations at Tao Dan park
Threatening to mass abuse the report function against another player could potentially result in action being taken against your own account, just so you're aware. You are expected to keep things civil on the forum. So you may want to retract what you're saying.
Re: Multiple Wayspots in MILITARY ZONE
You made a removal request which you believed was valid. It was rejected. You came here to appeal it and the community has tried to help you by explaining that you misinterpreted the guidelines, and that the wayspots are actually valid under current criteria. How is trying to help you learn more about the criteria considered toxic behaviour?
Re: Trailmarkers - warning received
I have retreated from this discussion a few days, because I felt worked up, becoming increasingly frustrated, and I don't want this place to end up like Twitter.
This means that I don't want to throw oil into the fire, so feel free to point it out when I'm out of line.
We got Aaron's post about changes to hiking trails. This was a great shock to those living in certain countries, because this would potentially disqualify hundreds of thousand, if not millions of trail markers (although many of them wouldn't even meet November '21 AMA's criteria.
The announcement was made, but no clear guidelines were made available to wayfarers (except those viewing this thread). There is a lot of suggestion and extrapolation going on, murking our understanding Aaron's message concerning the hiking route markers.
Because I have faith in people their best intentions, I'm not willing to accept that the wayfarer team is compromising their views and philosophies, or that the wayfarer team is keeping secrets and secret agendas. We are still the curators of the wayfarer map, basing our decisions on these views and philosophies, and we share a common interest with the wayfarer team to make the map a good map: as I interpret it, a map of locations that make me go either "well, that's something I want to see next (again)" or "I can imagine someone else would find that interesting to see (again)".
Now I'm wondering: what does the team want us to do?
- If they say: "currently, the quality of hiking trail poi's is too low. Improve it.", then I'll ask how and be on my way doing that.
- If they say: "there are too many hiking trail poi's", then I'll say "That's great, eh? That was the plan all along! Let's go outside and use them!".
- If they want something more specific, they should be more clear and specific. I'm too autistic to read between the lines. Can't blame me for that, when communicating through vague and extenuating wording.
What we want is clarity (besides more stuff to nominate in the barren plains of the rural outside and newly built modern residential neighborhoods). We want to know and be able to see the category-specific guidelines for every object, whenever we nominate or review. "Using your own judgement" and "gut feeling" after carefully reviewing the guidelines apparently isn't enough, otherwise we wouldn't have this discussion.
And what do you fellow wayfarers think? Do you think I have a valid point, and if so, do you agree, or do you think I am missing something here?
Re: Another Niantics review where the community DID NOT decide.
Hello @PeteC303-ING, our apologies for the confusion. You're correct, this nomination was not decided by the community. Soon, the emails will be more accurate as to who decided the nomination, our Wayfarer team or the community.
Re: Trailmarkers - warning received
I just want to point out that there was a loud contingent of wayfarers who wanted to make it easier to have things removed from the game. I always say be careful what you wish for.
