Re: Rejection on Open Church and Cemetery
Cemeteries themselves are not eligible, but things within cemeteries can be eligible. So if they're nominating the cemetery, you should be rejecting it.
If you're nominating the church, just nominate it as a church. Don't say anything about the cemetery.
Re: Disc Golf
here is the answer i got when i began bringing up this issue: https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/comment/158395#Comment_158395
if you don't want to follow the link, Giffard said
If any generic golf holes were nominated they would not meet our criteria for eligibility. Having said that, we have already reviewed the tickets raised and have addressed them accordingly. Sadly, we won't be able to discuss our internal policies.
so they aren't acceptable, but they would not remove them for me. when i get them (individual tees or baskets) to review, i mark them as unsafe. those are not plastic frisbees like you see on the beach that people are using. i get a lot of disagreements on those.
@RobertHiggins-PGO have your friends contact the course manager. niantic will remove them if the property owner complains.
Re: Where did it go
Thank you for your help. It is nice to see people helping people on here. Instead of being a little tense. 👍
Re: Happy Anniversary @NianThib! - Email Wording
Thank you for the detailed information and updates about the problems, both those created, and those actually fixed! This detailed information that you have provided will be helpful in encouraging Niantic to continue to fix these issues!
I get the frustration, I am quite upset about the poor wording, particularly in the "educational" emails.
Happy Anniversary @NianThib! - Email Wording
Happy anniversary @NianThib and @Tintino001-PGO ! It's been a year! I hope we get cake! 🎂
From https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/comment/200521
This is about EMAILS that have been produced since December 2021 (2 years 3 months ago) and August 2022 (1 year 7 months) - in a bug report I created in October 2022 (1 year 5 months ago).
NianThib has been "working on rewording those emails" for 12 months, but I think Niantic doesn't support the initiative. They always say "soon" (TM).
First the good news! These email issues have been fixed! 🎉
- APPEAL results emails have 3 fixes! Now they have "Appeal" in their subject. They say "Niantic has decided" instead of community. They no longer say that you can appeal your appeal.
- RECEIVED EDIT and PHOTO emails - no longer have confusing “submissions take approximately 30 minutes to sync with your contribution management page.”
- REMOVAL acceptances no longer say “Note that not all available Wayspots are used across all Niantic games”.
These emails are still broken: 🤢
- EDIT and PHOTO emails (submit, accept, reject) say "Please check out the full details in your Contribution Management page".
- EDIT and PHOTO REJECTIONS say "These may be appealed to Niantic one time via your Contribution Management page."
- REJECTION emails from Nominations, Appeals, and Removals - mixes accepted and not accepted. "Keep in mind that any changes based on this (rejection) decision can take up to 48 hours to be reflected in Niantic products that will use this Wayspot."
- APPEAL RECEIVED say "Your appeal will be reviewed in the order it was received."
- APPEAL RESULTS say "Thank you for your appeal on" and then gives the date it was submitted (not appealed).
- PHOTO submissions email subject says "Thanks! Niantic Wayspot Photo received". Results emails subject says "Niantic Wayspot media submission decided".
- DUPLICATE nomination results used to say "duplicate", but for the past couple years they are the same as other reject emails.
- The HOLD email (that says your 18+ month old nomination has been put on hold) says you can edit its photo and location. "This status change moves the nomination from active voting. We’re asking for your help to determine if the nomination is still valid, and if not, make any necessary improvements (i.e., title, description, locations, photos, etc.). This will ensure your nomination is up to date and will improve its chances of being accepted by the community."
- REMOVAL (submit, accept, reject) - "Your report will be reviewed by Niantic according to the Wayfarer Criteria" with a dead link.
- EVERY EMAIL says "Please check out the full details in your Contribution Management page" - with a link to the Featured Wayspot page instead https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/ (but not removal request/result emails).
And these email problems have come up in the past year: 🤯
- EDUCATION emails talk about getting a warning or suspension.
- AUTOMATED results (accepts and rejects) say "The community has decided".
So, Wayfarer Community: have a slice of cake! 🍰And let us know if any email issues are missing from the list. 🖋️ For next time!
Maybe 2Q 2024 will see more fixes!🤞 Or, maybe they will age another year, confusing people, keeping us wondering if they'll ever be corrected. 🤷♀️ It's too bad that Niantic constantly has too many fires higher priority than communicating with users/volunteers. 🔥
Re: Criteria for new spots - Every playground should be removed.
Hello @ViitCZ-ING
Thanks for your opinion I am sure your views are held with the most sincerest of intents, but I disagree.
I really dont see the inclusion of play areas in wayfarer as an issue. I also don't see that it is an issue for these wayspots to be used in a variety of games.
The wayspots are for children too as they play the games and they should be able to play at their favourite places rather than perhaps a post office.
Where I live walking around using a phone etc doesn't break any law.
I'm sure that is someone wanted to find out where play areas were for malicious reasons then they could simply go to other sources that are open to the public eg a local government website that helps you find places to play.
Our local government has an app for children to use to go around "collecting" visits to specific places in parks.
There is no issue.
Re: Shouldn't little free libraries be an exception to the private residential property rule?
If you put a little free library in your front yard and then get mad that people are in your yard to take books from it, you're a massive hypocrite.
There's a difference in inviting a person to access the corner of "my" yard for a book exchange program to increase knowledge or the joy of reading and the potential of dozens of visitors descending at once for a raid running around my yard trying to find a rare spawn.
Re: Criteria for new spots - Every playground should be removed.
Playgrounds have no historical or otherwise significant impact.
For a child, playgrounds are extremely significant. They're a primary place for outdoor exercise and socializing with new and unfamiliar people.
For a parent, playgrounds are extremely significant. They're a place you can take a child to and let them unload an amount of energy while the parent may get to socialize with other parents, play with their child and reconnect with old favorite play equipment, or even just sit and relax for a few minutes.
A Wayspot doesn't have to be significant to everyone.
Re: Trailmarkers - warning received
Those submitters make entire regions of the map **playable**. There are countless areas where there's nothing even remotely wayspot-worthy apart from trail markers.
You wanna know what a boring map is? An empty map.
Furthermore, what's in the pictures doesn't influence any of the games **in any way**. You could literally upload a picture of a pile of dog excrement and the portal or Pokestop would still be just as functional.
