Re: Why do my pokestop request got rejected?
Hi! Can you explain how this would meet Niantic's requirement for wayspots?
Posting the nomination as submitted may also help people give you more precise advice.
Re: Trailmarker portal removed
Niantic doesn't want trail markers any more. And as per usual, they refuse to explain why. They'd rather just ban people's accounts.
Re: Trailmarkers - warning received
@AliceWonder1511-PGO 🤦🏻♂️ yup, despite my best intentions, I still got carried away.
Forgot about the banning part. And I shouldn't comment on that anyway. It's a necessary evil, and a gray area. Too gray, I think, if people with best intentions fear consequences.
Re: Trailmarkers - warning received
I have retreated from this discussion a few days, because I felt worked up, becoming increasingly frustrated, and I don't want this place to end up like Twitter.
This means that I don't want to throw oil into the fire, so feel free to point it out when I'm out of line.
We got Aaron's post about changes to hiking trails. This was a great shock to those living in certain countries, because this would potentially disqualify hundreds of thousand, if not millions of trail markers (although many of them wouldn't even meet November '21 AMA's criteria.
The announcement was made, but no clear guidelines were made available to wayfarers (except those viewing this thread). There is a lot of suggestion and extrapolation going on, murking our understanding Aaron's message concerning the hiking route markers.
Because I have faith in people their best intentions, I'm not willing to accept that the wayfarer team is compromising their views and philosophies, or that the wayfarer team is keeping secrets and secret agendas. We are still the curators of the wayfarer map, basing our decisions on these views and philosophies, and we share a common interest with the wayfarer team to make the map a good map: as I interpret it, a map of locations that make me go either "well, that's something I want to see next (again)" or "I can imagine someone else would find that interesting to see (again)".
Now I'm wondering: what does the team want us to do?
- If they say: "currently, the quality of hiking trail poi's is too low. Improve it.", then I'll ask how and be on my way doing that.
- If they say: "there are too many hiking trail poi's", then I'll say "That's great, eh? That was the plan all along! Let's go outside and use them!".
- If they want something more specific, they should be more clear and specific. I'm too autistic to read between the lines. Can't blame me for that, when communicating through vague and extenuating wording.
What we want is clarity (besides more stuff to nominate in the barren plains of the rural outside and newly built modern residential neighborhoods). We want to know and be able to see the category-specific guidelines for every object, whenever we nominate or review. "Using your own judgement" and "gut feeling" after carefully reviewing the guidelines apparently isn't enough, otherwise we wouldn't have this discussion.
And what do you fellow wayfarers think? Do you think I have a valid point, and if so, do you agree, or do you think I am missing something here?
Re: Appealed and Accepted but not Appearing
I see that the Wayspot was moved to the correct location during review. Just as a friendly reminder, submitting Wayspot candidates at incorrect locations is considered abuse and may lead to sanctions on your Wayfarer or game accounts.

Re: New Forum, New Adventures, Same Explorer Community - Discussion
Nomination Support - Criteria Support - Edit Support…. It is the word support. I dunno….
I guess one of the big things is the speed which many of us, including myself are guilty of, segue a request for help into a general free for all.
Will moderators be able to shift sideways these posts, including mine, to a general discussion. So the request for guidance, help, clarity is answered in a good way?
And to be really really really really really helpful for wayfarers new and current - will they improve the onboarding process and ongoing knowledge managment process. Proper step by step process on how to do things. What it means.
Even simple things like not putting sh1te showcases up that are clearly in breach of criteria.
Because sure cleaning up the forums is great. But majority of the problems in wayfarer are not forum based. Not saying not worthy. Not saying going to be great. But jeez most of the miscommunication/ help etc requested is because the onboarding and ongoing knowledge management leaves something to be desired.
Anyhow - games specific wayfarer forums would be neat. Sorry cannot hear your @Elijustrying-ING over my broken record…..
And is the change over GMT, PST or what on the chosen day
Re: There's no pokestops around me for several dozen kilometers, Niantic just rejected me nomination.
I think you could get that added to the map with a bit of help :)
The location and the lack of nearby poi means I'd personally be happy to accept something like this, with a bit of tweaking, where you are.
Your pictures are great but definitely don't mention any specific game in your text.
You need to emphasise why this place is important and what makes it great as a Wayspot that someone would like to see.
Definitely socialising with the picnic tables and food. Explore and exercise could work if you can connect it to the area.
Re: Wayspot looking generic at first glance
Your nomination is a sign that warns drivers of ice during the winter.
How does it fit any of the three eligibility criteria?
Re: Wayspot looking generic at first glance
I can't see that it's somewhere great to explore.
How should I title this nomination to get it appropriately approved.
I have a nomination that should have easily been accepted, but was rejected. I titled it, "Mandaree Hill" because that is what we colloquially call it, but it isn't a hill as a natural feature, but a placement of rocks that spells out the name of the town, Mandaree and a medicine wheel.
It didn't entirely surprise me that it got rejected because the title might sound like a natural feature, but I appealed it because if you actually look at the post and the criteria it easily fits and is easily visible from the satellite view.
Still it just got rejected and I think whoever viewed the appeal only took 2 seconds, saw the title and rejected it without scrutiny. It doesn't help that it's hard to capture it from a distance that makes it obvious with a photo. It's much easier to notice in person.
The bottom photo is the main photo and you can see the word Mandaree written with rocks, but it is a bit faint and getting a better photo is challenging.
The top photo was the supporting photo with the medicine wheel.
I explained clearly that it was the name of the town spelled out in colored rocks and that it's a landmark local to the area that is safe and accessible and you can see walking paths on the satellite images.
