Re: Gym was not demoted to pokestop
This is intentional behaviour and not a bug. All 3 gyms will be able to remain as they are. Dropping below the threshold doesn't cause a demotion by itself, although if one of the Gyms has an edit submitted and accepted, that may cause it to update and get demoted to a Pokéstop. So long as that doesn't happen though, there is nothing wrong here, and the Gyms are still completely valid. It just means that if the cell gets another Pokéstop and thus goes back to 20 total locations in Pokémon Go, you won't get another Gym because 3 already exist.
Re: LDS and Niantic Games
I practice a similar convention for other buildings of the same religious organization for edits.
For the description, I try to have the first sentences about the location and a clincher about the organization as a whole for the last parts.
Ingress issues aside, the continuity across related objects feel satisfying IMO. Would be nice to see a field from three temples of the same religion following a definite naming convention tbh.
Re: Trailmarkers - warning received
Unfortunately nothing with wayfarer is made clear, it's almost like they are intentially vague to keep us all uninformed and frustrated.
This is just another example in a long line of people contradicting others and then doing nothing to clarify when they cause confusion.
Really stupid question re Niantic ID
Can I have a different Niantic ID to my game ID
Cause when I look at the system it is not clear. And I don't want to play with any settings that says your stuck with X
Just wondering. IF there is a help section that makes it clear - oooops and sorry for wasting peoples time. But not found one.
Re: LDS and Niantic Games
Just look at the Mission Creator map. There were already accepted edits across the country when I checked last week
Re: Exclusive New Pokémon GO Feature Comes to Explorers - Routes Creation - Discussion
It kinda makes sense they changing it. I have noticed a marked increase in specific game comms here. So reading between the lines they will become far more wayfarer focused?
One of the good things about here is passionate caring people who communicate. The other forums is a dead zone for discussion or debate and it is clear people end up here because there are few other places for comms let alone decent in game communication from Niantic et al
But I have said before a wayfarer only forum set up with a channel for each game is not a bad idea I really hope they thought that out
And removing a thread like this and not having is not a good idea.
Routes depends on waypoints created by everyone. Routes rules of use and creation are similar. The cross over on danger/inaccessibility raises many questions on waypoints. Let alone how different games are played. Often the user behaviour problems encountered from a feature point of view are common across all multiple aspects. In fact - routes in particular show the very close relationship and dependency on wayfaring and POIs and vice versa.
As a product manager, I would encourage a place where the above close relationship between wayfarering and games features are discussed and ideated. These can be gathered and dissected across games teams so that those similarities can be used UX/CX minds to ideate better.
And you know. It was and is great to learn about similar features in other games and how they worked or did not. I for one learnt heaps and certainly learnt a lot more about wayfarering and what it can do.
So I do thank everyone for their support and contributions in this thread. :-)
Mandatory Hometown Location?
I've had some significant use of Wayfarer a couple years ago, to include reviewing tons of waypoints. But today when I decided to check things out after so long, the site is forcing me to set a hometown location. To be honest, I don't know if I ever set my hometown and this new system is forcing me to reset it, or what's going on. Regardless, I'm super leery of permanently setting a location that can never be changed.
Do I HAVE to have a hometown location set? I don't really have a hometown. I move a lot and there's no place I'm interested in being stuck in forever. It's very weird and nonsensical that we can't ever change it. Yes, I know you have the bonus location which can be changed once a year. But I also don't want to be stuck reviewing waypoints forever from a place I have no interest in or commitment to.
I would much rather NOT set a hometown location. I want to keep that option for if/when I finally do settle down in a real hometown. Is there an option to leave it un-set? Give me random waypoints. It doesn't bother me.
Re: LDS and Niantic Games
In a previous communication, it was suggested that the sidewalk and stretch of land along the road, when not part of private residential property, may not be excluded.
Discussion in here with at least 2 posts by Giffard worth checking out.
As a reviewer, I would tend to line with rejecting based on the image you showed.
Re: Little free library, I don’t trust them…
If the photos are fishy, it's always a good idea to do an image search. It's a good tip that can be used for almost any nomination.
Re: LDS and Niantic Games
Edits have never been auto-accepted. Somehow, someone or some organization gets these far-flung Wayspot edits submitted AND approved.
They're either flooding them repeatedly, submitting where an inferior (misspelled or mischaracterized) POI is in Lightship or they've got a trick up their sleeve.
I put in a few edits months or years ago and haven't heard back on them. What makes these identical edits successful all over the map?
