How do I deal with graffiti submissions with no street view.

In my country there no street view pics from google, very few photospheres. I do not want to pass submissions which I can't confirm.

How do you guys usually deal with this kind of submissions?

Thanks

I rely on the submitter giving good supporting information. Many don't.

Normally 3* the location if you cant find it, but the location could be correct. I lost likely reject things like this based on the fact, that many fakers use this tactic for their fakes.

If satellite view is high enough quality, look for the building that the Street Art is tagged on. It usually takes some time, but we're here to do quality work. Sometimes you can see distinct features of a building from different angles. If it seems likely that the building exists, 3* it; you can at least assume it's close to the marker they've pinned.

If you can't find anything distinctive, it's up to you. 1* for location because they didn't provide enough information, or 3* it because you trust the submitter and the submission is otherwise of high quality.

When I get things in Mexico and Puerto Rico I usually have the same problem: no street view. Their Satellite View isn't great but I can usually tell the location is accurate if the submission is close to visible objects from overhead. Usually I check infrastructure like power lines, buildings, and roads to map a location based on supporting information. Sometimes you can catch a street sign intersection in supporting info as well. Sometimes I trust the submitter but I always do as much research as I can before saying "yep I'm sure this exists."

Look at the environment where the street view is and compare if it looks similar to the buildings where the street views put your in.

  • Thanks all for your comments. I'll try to get as much info as I can.

If the supporting image does not show the POI and the POI itself is not visible on the satelite image. I reject that nomination. Same with pictures when the supporting image is the same as the original POI.

Without streetbiew the task is on the submitter to help find the location.

There are some ways to do this.

Supporting image with location data on it.

A good supporting image which shows something that is clearly identifyable on the satelite image as orientation mark to help find the POIs location on the map.

The submitter can help with the supporting information to help find the location.

Sometimes links to other sources can help verify the location.

It is down to the submitter. Even with streetview, it is often outdated and it applies to anything, not just graffiti.

The supporting photo (if not the not the waypoint photo) should ideally give an idea of the surroundings. You may not see the submission itself, but if you can see what’s around it and it matches the surroundings on the submission photos, you can be confident the location is correct
