[PoGo] Your system does not work in Morocco.

Hello everyone,

I am French-speaking Moroccan, what you will read will have been translated on Deepl.

Honestly, I hesitated for a long time to write this post which will most likely fall into oblivion.

So, it's quite simple: this Wayfarer system does not work here in Morocco.

When we are shown screenshots of Pokemon Go in Europe, India, USA, etc., it makes us really sad.

We have a small community but it's very active here. And when one of us is absent, or has a bad Wayfarer rank, we notice it very quickly on our submissions.

Also, we have two communities that have never agreed on the criteria (Spanish/Moroccan). Therefore, the same sub could be accepted or rejected in a very random way. Only the Mosques have the adhesion of both communities.

Updating the Wayfarer criteria has had NO impact on the smooth running of things... Oddly enough, our community used to accept coffee. And very recently, I was refused 3 or 4 coffees.

Could we agree that this system doesn't work here? And that we should think about an alternative system like, for example, the creation of Pokéstops directly in the Pokemon Go game, but which would only appear to the player who created it?

Or others!

Thanks for reading me.

Niantic is currently on a trajectory to improve many (if not all) aspects of Wayfarer. Among those improvements are improving reviewer quality, and fixing problems with areas where nominations don't get agreements, because there is too few people reviewing. Hopefully those improvements are sufficient to improve your situation.

Having personal wayspots is probably never going to happen. That goes entirely against what Niantic is trying to do.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your response.

In Morocco, we really have a lot of cafés, sales corners, restaurants, a few plates...

But the only proposals that work for sure are: the big fountains, the Playground and the mosques.

So not only do we have waiting problems, but we also have few eligible places.

Even more problematic: people here are completely unaware of the criteria update, so places that were sometimes accepted here (like cafes) should be even more accepted with the above mentioned update.

Except that no, I have personally witnessed a regression in the acceptance of proposals such as coffee shops...

In Cell 14 where I am, I only have 3 POI. In Cell 14 to my left: there is only one.

However, there are 4 or 5 of us living in these two cells. We are always, always obliged to move far enough away to be able to enjoy the game.

Personally, I have the impression that Niantic gives solutions that solve absolutely nothing, that only add vagueness to an already precarious situation.

    Kind regards,

What did you mean by 'random'? Did any nominations that should be eligible were rejected, and vice versa?

  • That's right, yes.

Most of the time, coffees that are fully eligible are refused.

People redo the same proposal, almost the same photos (in all cases, no defects such as license plate / or faces of people), in the same position and sometimes it is accepted and sometimes it is refused.

Some people told me that to avoid this kind of thing, they make 2 or 3 similar proposals in the same position, because one of them will eventually be accepted. But this technique contravenes the Wayfarer rules in addition to being detrimental to us reviewers.

Recently, I saw a Mosque photographed from afar, with no less than 10 faces visible in the photo, and this proposal was accepted.

I have also seen so-called "graffiti" which are actually simple stickers stuck on... a garage door.

We come to a situation where this kind of proposal is accepted, while totally decent coffees are refused.

In the last few weeks I have turned down several proposals that contained visible faces and fully legible license plates. And my rank went down because of that.

It's very wearisome, personally I've reached a point where I had to convey this message to Niantic:

     - Your criteria only puts countries like ours at a disadvantage, there is no fairness (equity); and

     - Your updates of the criteria are still too incomprehensible, and only make precarious situations even more precarious.

All this needs to be reformed, by proposing concrete solutions such as (i) lowering the level of requirements in Third World countries or countries that are in the process of expansion; or (ii) appealing directly to the communities in each region of the globe to determine which proposals deserve 4 stars and more, taking into account the particularities of each country if necessary, and sending us an Excel file as an indication that we would all be required to follow, but which is to be modulated according to each proposal.

Last time I was in Morocoo, I stayed in a couple of towns which were full of potential Waypoints, but had only 1 or 2 live ones. I would have happily submitted more, but Morocco is not one of the countries where you can use your European SIM card / mobile phone account on a "roaming" basis, which means your phone and data are billed on the same basis as if you were at home. Far too expensive to use mobile data or get a local Sim card if you are only these for a few days.
