Hi @NianticCasey-ING and others. This has been confusing me for quite a while now! Finally gained the courage to mention about it.
You see, when reviewing wayspot candidates, it clearly says ”Description is not required” under ’Title and Description’.
Are we supposed to believe this, or is this a remnant from OPR-times that’s just been forgotten there? If latter, please do something about it, like remove this confusing piece of text.

You can clear the description in the wayfarer tab.
The Description is not required. There are still submissions in the system from when it wasn't even possible to add a description, so they can't remove that text. As @LukeAllStars-PGO mentions, it is also possible to erase the description through Wayfarer after submitting (though I wouldn't suggest that people go out and erase their descriptions, as wayspots with accurate descriptions are always nicer than those without any description).
Some submission do not require a description if the title is clear enough.
