How long does it usually take for an upgraded waypoint to be approved/rejected

I’ve submitted a few waypoints after reaching level 38 in November and upgraded 5 since then, the latest one being late December. I haven’t received a decision on any of the upgraded ones yet.
I’m level 40 now and my wayfarer rating is in great. I live in a very low density player area and there’s almost no stops in my city so most of my submissions here have been nice local areas like community park, playground, cultural artwork etc

It all depends on your location and the number of active wayfarers in your surroundings.
My experience is between 6 hours and 4 days, but i can also take way longer.
I had like every fifth upgraded nomination hanging in a limbo before april '20, where there came a ton of new reviewers.
There’s an okay number of active wayfarers (at least ones that are in our group) but not as much as a high density place like say, London etc
im not sure how long the wait time here is, before November there were less active wayfarers as not many were level 38+ So it took a year or two, but now with those players (like myself) reaching the level where we can vote and nominate I dunno
You need to find it out by yourself, there isnt that one formula telling us how we can calculate the time in quere/voting/with upgrade.
