Has the 3 featured wayspots become irrelevant and actually giving a false impression on validity?

I have been tracking my local featured wayspots on most weeks I have seen either invalid nominations or very low quality nominations being featured. Ranging from horrible grammatical errors in title and description to neighborhood entrance signs with an outlandish story on why it is important. This week I have a water tower with a sun glare with no cultural significance that is for a town behind a locked gate, a memorial tree grove with a common persons name on it, and a basketball court in a park. I don't think the current algorithm is helping show off showcase examples of what niantic is looking for it seems to highlight the same areas over and over and does not prove anything other than it shows what people upvoted and approved. It would honestly be better if niantic just had an algorithm from employee picked suggestions in each country over the current system that just highlights what is being approved.
