Acceptable Criteria Needs Clarified Fully
I enjoy nominating things to serve as points of interest but there are a lot of things that get denied that should be acceptable. I believe if Niantic would make a detailed list & put into full detail what is & isn’t acceptable we wouldn’t have these issues. It’s terrible to be honest for someone to submit something that is supposed to be a slam dunk nomination only to have it denied. I’m not complaining for myself but I was just thinking. As wayfarers most nominations should be accepted. A small percentage should be denied. It sucks to take a chance nominating something especially if it gets denied. Waiting two weeks is absolutely ridiculous & is too long. These issues need addressed & fixed for all of us. We need to make these games the best that they can be. If we fix these issues more people will play the games & we will have more help in wayfarer. I want to thank everyone ahead of time for your comments & thank you all for all of your hard work

I know they have a list of what is or isn’t already (AMA) but it really needs to be clarified better. I know it seems hard but it can be done. Too many times things get denied because wayfarers get confused & it is not their fault. Being confused gets good nominations denied
I suspect the issue is less detailed clarification and more communication to reviewers. When criteria are updated generally the only people who no are people who participate in this forum, or who get their information from people who do. I really think that the criteria need to be built into Wayfarer itself so that people get up-to-date guidance on the screen based on what the submission is.
I completely agree regardless. They need to better explain what is credible instead of what might be. I see perfect nominations get denied all of the time because reviewers are still somewhat confused about a wide range of criteria. I wish it was just what is acceptable or what is not. I would love to see Niantic create a fully detailed pocket guide type list of what is acceptable/ unacceptable with more information for reviewers. The list could even be added to all of the apps. I also 100% agree that it should be built into wayfarer so that reviewers could better understand & nominations weren’t being wasted. That way we see a higher rate of nominations being accepted. I would also love to see more communication for reviewers as well
Niantic have 2 options. They either opt for a strictly defined set of criteria and spend a lot of time "arguing" with people submitting nominations about really trivial things, or they produce a set of aspirational guidelines and hope the community as a whole follow the rules. The recent new guidelines loosened things up even more.
Personally, I am in favour of guidelines where we see more guideance from Niantic about what qualifies and what doesn't. If they could do this in conjunction with a much better communication of the guidelines to the player base (not just the 1% of us who come here) via social media I think they would see better nominations, more reviewers and a reducton in the backlog.
Regardless whether it be less detailed clarification, a completely detailed list, or more communication we have a long ways to go to make this system better. I guess this is just the beginning
@sogNinjaman-ING I completely 100% agree
Training is the issue. A list doesn't work because there will always be unique things that should qualify but can't be accounted for on a distinct list, especially things that have cultural significance. This is why they tell us to use our best judgment.
Unfortunately, they open the system up to people to nominate without making sure that they have read the guidelines. Many of the new submitters don't realize that a) their submission doesn't go to Niantic, it goes to other players in their area and b) when they make a home stop submission for the lulz, their home address is completely visible to all who will review that troll submission. We also need reviewers to fully understand the pieces of the voting process. Again, people are thrown into this process with very little training. We have too many people who don't understand what Cultural Relevance and Visual Uniqueness mean.
We need solutions like:
Trusted Reviewers - People with a history of making good decisions, maybe even some real certification process from Wayfarer. Their reviews should carry more weight so they override bad reviews done by newer people.
Provisional Reviewers - Until a person reaches a certain number of agreements, their votes should not carry as much weight as more experienced reviewers. This helps reduce the impact poorly educated reviewers have. This would be similar to how your reviews currently don't count if you slip into the Red for agreements.
Implement the New Review Voting - They've been talking about using a new Yes/No system instead of the star system. I am eager to see how this works. However I am concerned that it will still be a problem if they don't fully explain what the voting parameters mean.
Consequences for Bad Submissions/Reviews - Currently the only consequence in place is that if you fail the reviewing test twice, you can never get access to the review process again. I know one person this happened to (I don't know how). I would argue that if there was a real education process, maybe they should be able to go through it and try again in 6 months. But what I am more interested in seeing is some way of restricting access to submissions if a high number of a person's subs are rejected or marked as "Fake Nomination." I don't know how it would be implemented but people who continue to submit photos of their feet or their dog or a coke can on their bed need to be dealt with.
@SeaprincessHNB-PGO I completely agree with everything that you stated above. Hopefully topics like this help them come to realization with what needs to happen, sooner rather than later
