Exaggerated Critical Pokestop Rating

Why are everyone so critical when rating the pokestops? I play in a village, hand in one pokestop after another and they get rejected. Of course there are more possibilities in cities, thousands of playgrounds, fountains, statues ..... Possibilities we do not have in the country. The system doesn't fit at all. We drive the cars to a bigger city in order to be able to play properly, crazy isn’t it? Many drive around in their car and catch or turn pokestops. No more „GO“ but „DRIVE“
I think, it won't get much better after Covid either. In my opinion the exaggerated critical Pokestop rating supports this new philosophy.

Just my 2 cents

We rate based off criteria regardless where you live

I know, and that’s ok, I think my stops meet the criteria. If I see stops at schools, fire departments, streetnames, restaurants in city’s and my stops showing for instance a archery field or an old bridge is rejected, don’t tell me thats objective.

An archery field is definitely not eligible. Think of overal safety at that point. You don’t want people actively using the range and someone go out to play pokemon. Its the same deal with gun ranges. Also old bridges generally are not eligible. Footbridges on trails generally yes. But just an old bridge doesn’t meet any criteria

If it's been rejected maybe finding something else to submit in the area might be better? Like survey markers. They are used for mapping and I've seen many of them are now waypoints. They look like hockey pucks in the ground. They are usually dated etc. Unless the new criteria doesn't allow them.

Survey markers are usually generic and mass-produced, they don't meet the criteria.

I suggest reading the guides on what is eligible and thinking about those things when looking to nominate something.

I'm going to insert one of my standard rants here. There are two key components to getting something accepted in Wayfarer:

#1: Submit something that is eligible and high-quality

    #2: Present your submission well

There is lots of garbage in Wayfarer, but that second point is where a lot of things that should be easy acceptances tend to fail. I help a lot of people improve their submissions, and I enjoy doing it. A couple weeks ago someone popped into a forum and said, "This got rejected. Can anyone help me understand why?" His submission looked like a mediocre photo of a crappy-looking dive bar and I wondered why he even bothered to submit it. The original author and I started talking. It turns out that this was famous and award-winning bar in the area, is considered a neighborhood icon, and has a long and storied history. It took me about 15 minutes of searching, cross-referencing, and reading articles to figure out that it was a really cool place and a high-quality submission based on its history and status within the community. Did I figure any of that out from his submission? My answer is an emphatic NO. IIRC, the description was something like "Local bar" I rewrote the description and supporting information for him so that they featured the things that made the place special. A couple of other people made strong suggestions about improving his photograph.

That's one example of countless ones where the submitter took something that was a really excellent candidate and presented it so badly that most reasonable reviewers would reject it without a second thought. It's not hard to present your submission well, but it's really easy to ruin it by presenting it badly.

I wrote this a while ago, and I'm going to link to it again because it seems like many people still don't understand how to create high-quality submissions. How to submit things that get accepted.
