Trees

Are they not natural features? why is everyone submitting plain trees in thier backyards that have a 10-15 year old age? arent most trees that age? theres nothing special about most of them and they are at private residences. Why am I getting alot of basic tree reviews?

Trees are natural features, 1*. Information signs to trees are eligeble as they got some educational content.

Because many submitters dont know criteria and submit trash only.

Natural features were previously explicitly excluded from eligibility but are now listed as examples of good Wayspots. Can you provide more information about any requirements for these locations?
Good question! It’s true that these are now up for consideration as eligible Wayspots. Famous waterfalls and lagoons, or popular cenotes and lakes are great places to explore. When considering these, think about whether there’s a specific location you can direct people to: a sign, an informational board, etc. Additionally, think about whether this natural feature is “just a random rock/tree” (which would be a poor nomination) or whether it’s a named feature with a famous backstory and/or a history (a great nomination!).
just within the time i posted that i got 2 more tree nominations. one of them said "This spot is already a resting spot for many transporters and people. I believe it would just add to there relaxation to play PokemonGo while sitting under this tree" and the other said the tree was 600 years old even though there was no sign and it didnt appear old at all but thankfully it was on k-12 school ptoperty so i easily rated 1* for that just so i didnt rate 1* for natural feature for two reviews in a row.
People have 7 free nominations every 14 days for each account that they have, so they try to get a pokestop at home.
Generic, everyday, growing in the ground, no sign or plaque or information board, growing in that bit of grass outside my house, "historic, been here for years" type "trees". 1* - The object is mass-produced, generic, or not visually unique or interesting.
100% a 1star nomination if its just some random tree
If theres can be proof that a tree is several years to hundreds of years old and more importantly visually striking, then you could argue for it.to be accepted (i can't think of any examples off the top of my head, not that interested in trees tbh) as natural features are not insta 1 stars anymore, but bog standardntrees out a back garden, nah, they are rejections
Just because something is old does not make it eligible, mostly all natural features are a 1 star rejection as “natural feature”. You need an easily identifiable and tangible spot for a poi that meets eligibility. I cant think of any tree that would fit as a great place to socialize, exercise or explore.
There is a town 20 mins south of me where they have put little plastic plaques on various types or trees and named them heritage trees. Which in theory is fine for a wayspot. But there are probably between 100-200 of them in a small town of 20k population. I’ve stopped accepting them. I just mark duplicate from the nearest one.
If you don't think they're eligible that's fine, but you shouldn't mark them as duplicates if they aren't actually duplicates. Just reject them for "other rejection reason."
They arent duplicates, thats not how it should work. Such signs are okay if they got educational content and give more information about the tree. But marking as duplicate is wrong and frustrating for the submitter. Also, it will propably not help your agreement rate.
I did say I couldn't think of any off the top of my head, but I know in so.e places there are trees that have stood for thousands of years and tend to be visible all round. Again, im not sayi g its always going to happen, im saying that ancient trees that stick out arent insra t rejections. And if a local area has a tree like this, you can guarantee thats a place to explore to
