I feel like a discussion about this will be helpful for everyone. I know they’re considered acceptable to an extent but what makes a shopping center or plaza acceptable? Thank you to all for your input

Very little - most "Shopping Centres / Shopping Plazas" are very "generic / not very interesting" places and get give low scores. Nominating something withing the area is usually more sucessful, not just submitting "my local shops".
Can someone point to where it is generally agreed they are acceptable? Are we talking about the generic signs at the entrance to a shopping center. I see no reason why those would be considered acceptable.
I saw somewhere where these were acceptable & wondered the same thing @ld3300-ING
It would be nice if as a whole they could be accepted though & placed in the parking spaces where all of the cars park. I think it would be helpful to everyone that way, & it’s a gathering place. I agree that it’s generic I’m just trying to make myself see why they are acceptable or what even makes one acceptable.
There is a common frustration that the AMA materials and community posts from the Niantic team considering acceptance guidance have not been assembled into a single post or page somewhere. Just looking at the wayfarer criteria pages I see no reason why these would be acceptable at all. There may be shops or murals and sculptures inside the shopping area that qualify, but shopping center signs are incredibly boring, generic, and don't provide any value to players. In fact they mostly seem to just be a waypoint someone can try to use while driving. It feels like a lot of submissions are made to be accessible from main roads, even is locations where the actual item is further in.
I can agree with that. I would love to see an updated version of the AMA. I’m sure that the next AMA will have a lot more information that we’ve all just been dying to see
Thank you for that. I’ve never submitted one & had no plans to. Hopefully others got an idea from this & will do the same & just stick to what you said above about shops, murals, sculptures, etc
