OMG, yes!!! Been seeing a massive influx of McDonald's, Walmart, gas stations, etc.
I feel like at the beginning of the criteria there needs to be a giant disclaimer *Anything that MAY BE eligible does not mean every single instance IS inherently eligible!*
I'd like to see "Generic business" return, with some more detailed guideance from Niantic over what would qualify, and what the submitter needs to demonstrate to get it through. "Breaksfast served before 11.00am" does not cut it.
I've seen SO many utterly generic businesses getting accepted into the game since the "generic business" reason was removed. Mainly in local "abuser hotspots" (areas where I know some large abuser groups live/frequent).
They usually put "this is a unique place" or "this place has high rating on TripAdvisor" in the description, and nothing else, as if that's enough reason.
I honestly don't know what to do when I see those submissions going live again and again. Don't know if there's point trying to bother reporting them either.
I'm thinking about writing a very simple Greasemonkey script that does only one thing: It changes the "Other Rejection Criteria" text on the page to something selected randomly from a list. The list in my head right now is, "Are you out of your (*@#&U mind?", "This is a joke, right?", "Nice try, bozo", "Dude... not even close", "No, your TV can't be a couch portal", and similar things that I mutter to myself while reviewing. If I do it I'll add "Generic business" to the list.

I think "generic business" was the main reason why many eligible local hotspots got rejected. This is a simple 1* that doesn't meet criteria.

Not even gonna lie, but given that the sub was from the USA, that's about as "culturally relevant" and community hotspot as a restaurant gets. 5* 🤣

Unfortunatly, using automated scripts is against wayfarer guidelines and may earn you a 4 hour cooldown.
Coincidentally, not using automated scripts may earn you a 4 hour cooldown too.
