Easy way to tell if my nomination is already a wayspot?
Hi,
I've had a half a dozen nominations nixed because there was already one there. I play PoGo so someone told me there are some wayspots that only show up in certain games. I'm thinking there is a reason for this although I can't imagine why it is so. From gameplay, it's kind of a hassle to submit a nomination and takes a bit of effort, so it's a bit annoying to find out that the spot I'm proposing is already a wayspot and my work was for naught.
I guess I'm asking this: Can I tell if a potential location is already taken by another game? Or do I have to have an account to every Niantic game app and check every potential spot before I nominate?

Make an ingress acc and use the ingress intel map
The safest way is to make Ingress account or ask someone that play Ingress to check for you. I think HP:WU also has more POI visible than PoGo (but not all POIs visible in Ingress), so someone who plays it can help you too in some way. But Ingress is still the best place to check it.
When we nominate something, we nominate it for all Niantic games, and these games have different rules with showing POIs in game, Ingress can have much more POIs close to each other than PoGo, and because of that it's easy to nominate something that is in database if you don't use Ingress.
If you don't want to use it, then sometimes you can guess if something may be in other games too - if it's pretty old thing that you wanted to nominate (it exists in this location for a few years at least) and close to it is Pokestop, then there is big chance your future nomination idea was added long time ago but you just don't see it. You have more chance with new thigns that they wasn't nominated, but they might not exist on map view or streetview, so people can reject them beacuse of that. And you must check if your fture nomination isn't to close to existing POI - if it's closer than 20m, it won't appear in any game or in database, you can nominate things like that forever, and ever if they will be accepted they won't show in any game, system will delete them automatically.
You must also remember than in PoGo is unwritten rule that in one Pokestop Cell there can be one Pokestop only (but many Ingress portals) - and I said it's unwritten rule, because no one from Niantic ever confirmed it works that way, but players found it on they own and it does works that way. You can check Pokestop cells using Ingress account with some addon to it that will show these cells. You can also check Pokestop and Gym cells on some websites made by players, but they're fan made, only show Pokestops added by other players, and can have wrong locations of these POIs, so it's not reccomended to use them.
