made me think about what fictional waypoints people would most like to nominate, and how they would explain that they meet criteria within the context of that fictional universe.
One I can think of, would be the Lighthouse from Lost. It’s up on a hill, as a great place for exploring, is a unique point on the island, and would allow for some great views. I’ll probably edit with a photo of a submission (but not actually submit it of course) later on with all the relevant photos/info.
Look forward to others being more creative than me.

Lost places are very interesting. I have heard about a lot of those which had very interesting history or got used as a place for art.
Some iconic locations from the comics: The Daily Bugle and Daily Planet buildings, the Stark tower, the Baxter building, the Justice League hall.
Two locations that we'd have to reject, unfortunately, would be the Batcave (PRP) and the Charles Xavier Institute (K-12).
The bakery in Kiki's Delivery Service - a nice locally-owned and -operated shop, and great place to break bread with friends!
The Mystery Shack from Gravity Falls. A great tourist attraction you would take your friends to that features lesser known information about the town.
A working McDonalds Ice cream machiene
The Arena from Hunger Games.
Criteria met: a place that encourages social interaction, promotes physical exercise, and outdoor exploration.
The Septry on Quiet Isle from a Song of Ice and Fire. It's an important historic landmark, a place of worship and a hidden gem destination at the same time.
The Bueno Nacho in Kim Possible. Sure, it's a chain, but I'd try to get it approved as a specifically important one since it was the place where The Naco was created by international hero and martial arts champion, Ron Stoppable.
@GearGlider-ING what about the warehouse they filmed the first (faked) lunar landing? That may be the closest thing we get to the Lunar Intel Map.
The Sphinx Gate in The Neverending Story. Or even Morla, the ancient turtle. Shedoesn’t meet the criteria by being an animal but has been there for more than most buildings.
Hogwarts, though that apparently is an in game Fortress already.
Unfortunately, we're not allowed to nominate locations on military bases or at Kubrick's PRP 😞
1* K-12. I'm afraid it's ineligible.
Chocolaterie Maya from Chocolat. Certainly a local hot spot!
Aladdin's magic cave, 1* no safe pedestrian access
Olympus (as in the home of the Greek gods), 1* PRP and imagine those endless discussions about trail markers leading up there...
Since it was my topic that inspired you, I'm going to say the same thing... Argonath.
Olympus is already a Wayspot.

Who else watched WandaVision and wanted to nominate the gazebo?
Five star candidate right there if I ever saw one.
Sorry, the gazebo has been destroyed. I’ll submit an Invalid Portal Report. 😆
Hmm - best fill out an "Invalid Waypoint" report then, I hadn't considered the K-12 aspect. That's not going to make me popular when that gets removed from the game !
🤣
You can always nominate trail markers in the Forbidden Forest. Make sure to place a confundus charm on the nominations so they're approved...
I'd try and nominate the Jebediah Springfield statue from The Simpsons, and then get the picture of it's head cut off as the cover photo.
The Love Shack from the B-52's song.
I think that might also be the Gazebo from Stars Hollow in Gilmore Girls. So I'd nominate that gazebo, the town square, Luke's Diner, The Dragonfly Inn, The Independence Inn, and maybe even Taylor's Ice Cream shop if I could fit it in a cell since it is next to Luke's.
I'd also LOVE to light up the campus of Greendale Community College so the study group could play GO together. Hopefully they'd all be on one team while Pierce is on a different one and they'd just take turns knocking him out of gyms.
"Luke's Diner, The Dragonfly Inn, The Independence Inn, and maybe even Taylor's Ice Cream shop"
Aaaaand all of them would be rejected for not being unique enough and/or not having Michelin stars.
+1 for anything in Stars Hollow!
Faber College - Delta Tau Chi House.
The statue of Emil Faber - "Knowledge is Good" is a shoe-in 5* submission.
Now that we're allowed coffee shops...
Repeat after me: we were never not allowed coffee shops
The Golden Arc's of McDowell's.
