Wayfarer upgrade used with out my permission

Hi,
I have made a wayfarer upgrade but I have found out that it was used without my approval for one of my previously created poke stop nomination. Is it there possibly to get my upgrade back and set it on poke stop nomination of my choice?

This is working as intended.
If you don't mark a nomination as "upgrade next", then the system will automatically assign the upgrade to a random one.
Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do to cancel it or reclaim the upgrade.

For what it's worth, Niantic has expressed that they were considering changing this to possibly allow banking upgrades. Doubt we'll see it soon, but always nice to see when Niantic is considering quality of life improvements for us.
Having seen a number of complaints about this system, however, we're going to be re-examining how upgrades are managed for the future.

Yeah I had this happen to me, I literally stopped reviewing at like 80% to avoid this because I only had 1 nomination in system and it was mediocre. Logged in a few days later and found a wasted upgrade and at 10%
The best lessons are learned by own experience. Now I know too.
