Now Live: Upload Management for Pokémon GO - Discussion Thread
What are your thoughts on this recent change? I’m not sure we have exactly this same thing in Ingress, nominations can be done remotely but not “stored” to upload later as far as I know

I think @NianticCasey-ING meant that we can store Nominations/Contributions in PoGO like we can store Portal Scans in Ingress.
Has anyone tested this? Is it live in PoGO yet for reals?
I was waiting for the possibility to remote-submit. Not the option to upload later...
Its useful, yes.
In pokemon go is working but if you use a photo to big and try to upload later, you get the famous error.
and you only know when trying to upload later, not when submitting (i can see this to be WAY frustrating)
oh well, I will keep remote-submitting using "forgery camera app" on android.
Hopefully a “upload later” and “nomination management” system is imminently forthcoming in Ingress too. It’s quite frustrating to be blocked from playing just because I found something interesting while out in the field, but only had one or two signal bars. Enough to play, but guaranteed to timeout.
Why not nominate later? Because finding the right gps pin on a tiny little map from 20km is another of the submission frustrations.
Nudge nudge @NianticCasey-ING
you can always use the draw tool in the IITC plugin to put the pin in the map, that way you can remember later.
or put a pin in the google maps apps, its has that option.
Per @NianticCasey-ING ’s post “You will notice an ‘Upload Later’ button”...
This option does not exist on my Ingress acct. I would greatly appreciate clarity on this. I am often in places where I can only get 3G service and am blanket submitting 14 nominations to build up a town. I find myself driving to hills to get 2 bars of LTE service and to submit a batch from photos I’ve taken and having to guess on pins . Then I lose an hour of my life trying to submit stuff that it takes 3-4 tries to finally get a confirmation.
I'm pretty happy with a upload later feature, was wandering around a state forest submitting trail markers the other week with some mates, at a few spots we only had 3G instead of 4G and uploads would time out, we had to hold onto a sub, walk to a better spot and submit. This feature solves that problem for us.
I echo these comments and would love this option on my Ingress account, although a while back I lost the ability to upload Portal Scans later (hitting Upload Later always results in a wait-spinner, and eventual failure) and would anticipate the same issues with nominations. Right now my low-cell-coverage submission process (usually much more than 20-25 KM from home) is to immediately take a photosphere, let it stitch, then wait to submit to Google; take a backup candidate photo on my cell camera, along with a supporting photo; attempt to submit in Ingress using a fresh photo and supporting photo; after failure to upload, try again in Pokemon Go if I have noms left; after that fails, pin my location and name it appropriately, drive to a truck stop or something, and remote submit/publish my photosphere. If this new feature is added in Pokemon Go only, I may not have enough submissions left and so will still fall back to Remote. Add in the time that it takes waiting for the failure, and you can see why submitting gets to be a giant time commitment. I also tend to resent the time spent away from the overworld map of the game I'm playing at the time, of course!
Ok you are only a Ingress player. @GearGlider-ING
PoGo already have the scan upload option.
Did not have the photo upload later option.
But still PoGo players do not have the remote submission or editting remote waypoints/portal as Ingress players.
Portal scan upload PoGo and Ingress both have it.
PoGo can not remote submission or remote editing portal as Ingress.
@GearGlider-ING
The only think that I have noticed is the uploaded remote for a new photo to the portal/pkstop.
Absolutely wonderful and simple, I nominate a lot in areas with low reception. Finally.
I have a huge metro park nearby with low cell reception. For the last year and a half, I've been submitting one nomination at a time by driving to the park, getting a submission ready, then walking to my car and driving out of the park to find sufficient signal to submit. I'm only successful about half of the time.
I am SO grateful to have this feature added to the game.
I was out submitting the other day and did not see this option in my Pokémon Go account nominations. Is it live worldwide, or is this a rolling upgrade?
I'm guessing this is one of those times where "live now" actually means "Soon™."
I also didn't had this option when I nominated today, so I think it's like Gendgi-PGO said -its soon to "live now" :D
Maybe in next update it will be available to everyone, now it's definitetly isn't.
Looking forward to this going live worldwide.
Same here. I have a note under the New Pokéstop button that says "You have no contributions pending upload," but I was unable to find any way to actually delay the upload of my submission.
I hate to be a Frequent Flier Tagger but @NianticCasey-ING is it known to Niantic that despite the feature's "Live Now" announcement in the News thread, most have reported having no access to this functionality? That same announcement also made it sound like Ingress has had this feature in the past, when that's not true: Ingress has had Semi-remote (distance-limited) submission using stored photos, but never had the option to "submit later" with location and title/description/supporting info cached. Is this coming for Ingress as well?
It would certainly be nice to have a clarifying announcement from Niantic.
The announcement says this feature is live "for eligible Pokemon Go players". I'd appreciate knowing whether:
I submitted a support ticket in Pokemon Go directly saying that the feature was announced as live but was not working for me and did not show up on the Known Issues list. They told me to follow the original announcement. 😅
I dont have it, too
🤷♂️
I don’t have the ability to do the upload later option yet either
About to hit two weeks since this was announced as "live" and I still do not have the ability to upload later. I was saving my nominations to head out to a lower cell signal park nearby, but I'm about to give up.
The latest iPhone update from the App Store seems to have removed the "You have no contributions pending upload" text from the New Pokestop section of Settings. Can we assume from this that the feature's "Live" status has been pushed back?
I went to Report a Bug and reported that I don't have this feature available. I'm not sure that's the ideal way to address this issue, but perhaps it will at least elicit some additional information about whether we can actually expect to be able to upload later at some point.
In case anyone following this topic hasn't yet seen, NianticCasey has updated the original announcement to correct that upload management is only live for photo edits and AR scans. This feature is not expected to be available for new Wayspot nominations until sometime in the second half of the year.
Thanks for the update. I guess the question is then @NianticCasey-ING is the other feature that was originally in the thread in the works?
Casey’s update above. Actual feature coming in second half of 2021. Hopefully to all the games
Hopefully this includes replacement of using Forgery Camera as Android 11 blocks use of third-party camera apps, which can be 'turned on' again by Niantic.
I've stopped submitting altogether now as I would take the photos when no one is around and upload later. Some places are too busy and you can't get photos without people in them too. Don't get me started on how this triggers anxiety too.
