Confederate statues and monuments with regards to 3.1
So before, @NianticCasey-ING had stated in this post
We are removing Confederate statues and monuments, with the exception of those tied to historical battlegrounds, museums and other notable locations. It’s become clear these do not provide an inclusive environment for our community and furthermore represent symbols of oppression and glorify slavery. This is part of our ongoing commitment to use our platform to stand in support of the Black community and reject racism.
However, like many old posts on this forum, it no longer exists.
There was speculation on this reddit thread that this meant that with 3.1, Niantic is now allowing any confederate state/monument to be wayspots again. I was hoping to get clarification from @NianticCasey-ING or someone who can tell us Niantic's current policy about them (or any places/things that promote hateful ideologies) with 3.1.
@NianticGiffard @NianticAtlas @NIACHAOSMONKEY-ING Or whoever could chime in on this.

That's...a really bad (good) clarification to have lost from the deleted posts.
Yeah, I hope niantic reclarifies this soon or else you'll have people telling others that confederate statues or other places that promote hate are good places for their playerbase. And last thing you want is someone looking for a hit piece to write an article about how niantic backtracked on confederate statues.
Hi there, @GearGlider-ING! Our policies regarding confederate monuments have not changed and we stand by what was communicated earlier. We have already removed the Wayspot mentioned in the aforementioned post. I hope this clears the air.
Thanks for clearing that up. For clarification, should reviewers reject such nominations, and with what rejection reason? Is this in conflict with published guides, and can something about groups or monuments that promote hate being ineligible be placed on the published criteria pages?
Thanks, again!
Yup! These nominations should be rejected under 'sensitive criteria'.
Thank you for this clarification @NianticGiffard. I will, however, reiterate @Gendgi-PGO 's second question to ask whether this will be added to the rejection criteria and to the descriptions of the "sensitive location" rejection reason. Currently, rejecting these monuments seems to be supported only by your post here and not by any other published guidance.
Thanks for voicing out your opinion, @flatmatt-PGO, and @Gendgi-PGO! I will be sure to check this with our concerned team to see if we can make amendments to the current criteria page for better clarity.
