Why was a validated proposal not added in Pokémon go

Hi @NianticCasey-ING,

I have a proposal that was accepted. The proposal is "Administration Stockfeld" in Strasbourg, France but it did not appear as a pokéstop in Pokémon GO.

It is more than 20m fare away from existing pokéstop. So please, can you explain me why it was not added as a pokéstop?

Here some photo of the proposal :

Thanks a lot in advance for your answer.

Best regards.

    Hi there.

There might be several reasons for a wayspot for not appearing in Pokémon Go. I will try to explain them all.

    • First things first. It will take time for a POI to appear in Pokémon Go. After getting accepted, a wayspot appears in Ingress right away. The wayspot won't appear in Pokémon Go until the next sync. Daily Sync occurs around 11 pm IST [GMT +5:30]. Sometimes, like if the wayspot got accepted after a specific time of the day, then it wont be counted for the daily of that day. So, one need to wait for the next day's sync.
    • Now, even after the sync, if a wayspot doesn't appear in Pokémon Go, then it might be because the wayspot was accepted on a Level 17 S2 cell, which already have PokéStop or a Gym. Only one PokéStop per Level 17 cell. Its a hidden rule in Pokémon Go. You may learn more about it on https://www.google.com/amp/s/pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/amp/. This cell criteria is not applicable to Ingress. So, the accepted wayspot might appear on Ingress
    • Now, there's another hidden rule, which is also applicable to Ingress. Wayspots should maintain 20 meters from each other. Even if a wayspot gets accepted, if it is within 20 meters from another wayspot, it won't show up in any of the Niantic Products irrespective of whether they appear Pokémon Go or not. So, technically if there's a wayspot which doesn't appear in Pokémon Go and a player submits another within 20 meters of this one without even knowing that it was there, then the newly submitted one may not appear in any games

And there's one more thing. Even if you place the marker on an empty cell, and it doesn't fall under 20 meters of an existing wayspot, reviewers might move it upon reviewing to improve its location accuracy. And sometimes, there will be issues with the sync

You can see other wayspots which doesn't appear in Pokémon Go if you have an Ingress id. Just create one and login to https://intel.ingress.com/intel and check whether the portal is there.

Unfortunately, there's no legitimate way by Niantic to see the S2 cells 20 meter radius around a wayspot. So, players use third party sources for the purpose, which is against the ToS. So, not explaining it.

It appears to be less than 20m of a wayspot named "cité jardin Stockfeld" that is in Ingress but not in Pokémon GO.

Location (in Ingress Intel Map): https://intel.ingress.com/intel?ll=48.530696,7.770847&z=21&pll=48.530765,7.770838 (photo should be in next comment when approved)

Wayspots need to be more than 20m apart, as far as I know all wayspots appear in Ingress

In PoGo they work with larger cells where they allow one possible stop per cell. So not all active wayspots will appear in PoGo.

There is also some delay between acceptance in wayfarer and appearance in PoGo, here I have no idea on the delay (I'm an Ingress only player) but 19 days seems long

Thanks you all for your answers, this increase a lot my knowledge about wayspot.

It will help me a lot for the next proposal I will do in Pokémon GO.

I wasn't aware of the possibility to see the wayspot in ingress just by creating an account and also not by the S2 CELLS.

I'm really disappointed that there is no official and accepted way of seeing pokéstop and S2 cells with 20m distance in a common Map.

When we see the time it takes to have a proposal reviewed, the grey criteria that reviewer not apply the same way that conduct to great difficulty to get a proposal approved, it's obvious that more and more players are discouraged to make new proposals.

I think it will be a good idea to add a functionality on wayfarer.nianticlabs.com to see on a map,

    - the existing wayspot (from ingress and Pokémon go),

    - the S2 cells level 17

    - the 20m circle around existing wayspot.

This to help the player to make relevant proposals and to have better chance to get they proposal really created in the game.
