3 Stops, 3 Rejections. What did I get wrong?
Two rejections in my email tell me these don't meet acceptance criteria but don't give any reasons (clear or otherwise). The third gives the reason here:
This nomination has been rejected due to the following reason(s):
"Insufficient evidence that the nomination accurately reflects the submitted real-world location based on comparison of the submitted photo and map views, Nomination does not meet acceptance criteria, Nomination appears to be a natural feature (waterfall, mountain, lake, etc.) that is not connected to a man-made object."
My GPS location on the map when I submitted these was double checked so I don't know what that is all about and the "not connected to a man-made object" statement confuses me the most due to the walking path being paved (obviously by humans).
Another question: Are natural objects and sights not considered good criteria? I assumed they'd be the best criteria if the space is distinct enough on a walking path due to it encouraging exercise.

Comments
Sadly, natural features without sign are not allowed.
i hope Niantic will one day change their opinion about that but for now it’s not possible even if it’s a very good place
As Aeryle88-PGO wrote, natural features aren't eligible, the only chance of them being accepted is for them to have a sign or plaque.
Generic and mass-produced benches are also not eligible (only some memorial benches of iportant persons might be eligible), and to nominate footpath you need some anchor for it (like trail marker).
As for mismatched location rejection, people compare your photo to Google streetview (or map view if streetview isn't available in this place), and they can be very outdated, so your nominations might be not visible on them.
So sadly, nothing you nominated was really eligible, and because of that it was rejected.
Maybe there is something else you can nominate that mets criteria? Like some informational board about this place, some monument, nearby playground or sports field? It will have much better chance of being accetped.
Random spot along river bank ineligible
benches: are generic/mass produced unless dedicated to a significant person in the local community or are artistically unique.
Waypoints need an "anchor". This is usually an object or a sign or similar. Just a photo of a "nice spot" or a bit of pathway is ineligible. "Natural Objects" can be accepted, but they need to be a lot more impressive than a tree stump. This is why Trail Markers are used a fair bit.
While you may have the exact GPS location from your handheld GPS, you are getting this rejection because people reviewing your sub cannot see what you see on the ground. As this is not a road I assume the Google Earth car has not driven down it so there is no Streetview available. That leaves reviewers with only a Satallite view of the area, and small "natural" objects may not stand out enough so that reviewers can actually sport them and agree your pin is in the right spot. For places like this "off the beaten track" I would alsway recommend making a Google Photosphere of the location and uploading that along with your sub. Not "officicially required", but it helps a lot establishing location and the "yes - it does exist" questions.
THANKS EVERYONE!
I haven't been given the option to take a round about photo when using pokemon go to enter the nominations. As far as paths, I didn't realize while making the nomination they weren't eligible.
With that said, I saw a thread where someone submitted a photo of a path and a discussion on it stating that walking paths are now eligible. Any insight on that? I intend to review the rule later after posting this.
So trail markers are eligible but are very hard to get accepted lately. A random path that has no marker is ineligible, as well as if it just says “public footpath” personally imo its ineligible as well just because its so generic.
I would say definitely needs some kind of sign or mile marker. As others have said generic bench not accepted but I have a path near me and every bench has a sign on it honoring either a company or organization. “This bench paid for by RAP” recreation and park. Or honoring an individual making it a memorial type thing. All those benches are stops. There’s also boulders with plaques that are mile markers string how it several miles long and those are also stops. Really to me that’s the one thing missing is a plaque of some kind labeling what that place is or where it is or how far in it is. As for location not matching I think that’s just google maps not having updated pictures. Hope this helps, good luck and let’s get these stops made! Woo
Benches are considered by the majority to be bland and bad wayspots. Your benches overlooking the water have a chance though a small one about on par with a local restaurant.
The "natural feature" comments mean to say that you need a man made object to submit something, your first one is a rock and a stump while a cool spot to stand and take a photo it doesn't even look like many people walk over to the rock.
