How long till accepted photo submission goes live?

I've submitted a new photo through PoGO and got a mail on April 16, that my photo submission got accepted and that, to quote: "this photo is now available on the Pokéstop/Gym."
Yet when checking said POI out in any game, it still shows only the old picture. (Yes, I did check for multiple images on the POI). Is this an error? Are submissions synchronized in batches? Should I submit again? Should I bug Niantic support about this?
The last official statement I heard was, that photo submissions are now live. Did they announce anything else afterwards regarding this issue?

Thanks! Sadly no resolvment or official statement on there either. Guess it's back to the old waiting game then, as usual.
If you go to the Wayspot in question and tap to fully enlarge one of the photos on it, you can then swipe left and right through the various pictures. This can sometimes show you images that have been added but aren't yet showing in the Wayspot gallery. Can you see your image by doing this?
It used to be only about 5-7 days and the new photo would be approved by Niantic, you'd get the email, and you could see the photo in Ingress and Pogo pretty soon after as well
Since a few months ago, 100% of the photos I've submitted have just vanished into limbo. Not a single thing has been added, and I haven't gotten any emails other than the initial thanks-for-submitting. I assume it's because of the new wayfarer voting for photos, so now they're stuck in the ~5 year long queue with all the other stuff.
Since the update and maintenance I feel pokestops that would be accepted every few weeks have slowed.
Yeah, I've checked out that method as well, but there is still only one image and it wouldn't allow me to swipe off of it
