Entrance Sign Nomination: Welcome to Orleck Heights
Please help, I need guidance on why this nomination was rejected and what I need to do to get it approved. This was my second time submitting for this particular nomination.
Title of the Wayspot: Welcome to Orleck Heights
Location: (Lat/Long) 32.817896/ -117.107338
City: San Diego
Country: United States of America
Screenshot of the Rejection Email:
Photos to support your claim:
Proof of Orleck Heights 1.5 mile sidewalk path. The community challenge is based on an Honor System, but proof is always welcomed.
Additional information: My nomination was rejected due to "not meeting acceptance criteria", but it meets all the acceptance criteria just like all other entrance signs that I've reviewed and had approved for others.
1. Must meet at least one of the three eligibility criteria: It is a great place for exploration and promotes exercise.
2. Must be a permanent physical, tangible, and identifiable place or object, or object that placemarks an area: The entrance sign is a permanent physical feature that placemarks the community just like the "Voodoo Doughnut" shop in the example.
3. Must be safe and publicly accessible by pedestrians (indoor or outdoor): Due to the high capacity of little children, playgrounds, and the nearby elementary school, the sidewalk extends around the entire community on both sides of the road. The speed limit is also 15-25 mph slow for vehicle traffic. The military families and local children never have a problem safely playing or exercising in this location.
4. Must contain accurate information in the title, description, and photo: Everything about this nomination is factual and can be proven by the photos I've submitted and the locals in the area.
Respectfully,
DuggySenpai - PGO

Any link to an official site that explains this loop ? Because it looks completely made up and like an attempt to get a generic housing estate sign passed.
Theres nothing factual in the pictures you've provided, it just looks looks like a google maps trace of a persons walking route.
You will need an official site / details to prove this is not just made up
Your supplemental also mentions military families. Is this community on a military base?
Problem 1 is if it is on a military base. While existing locations on bases have been grandfathered, new locations are a reject. If this not on a base, remove the military mentions to avoid rejection on those grounds.
Problem 2 is that while subdivision signs can be accepted, they do not have to be. That makes the decision a subjective one. I would likely reject this myself.
Problem 3 is that your supporting information has nothing to do with submission image and your supporting photo provides no helpful context because the anchoring object is not visible.
Subdivision signs are not eligible unless artistically unique. Also military families are just regular families. If its close to a base And not on base I would not mention military at all. People will get the wrong idea and try to reject it for that reason alone.
Subdivision / Housing Estate "name signs" are not eligible.
After doing some researching, I have found nothing that supports the "Orleck Heights Loop Challenge". Not a single web page or post anywhere, even on community review pages. It is military housing, but it is not on base, so don't even mention military at all. The Intel map shows several waypoints in the community already, and a quick glance shows several places for potential nominations that would be easier to approve. The sign as it is, is nothing special.
@Theisman-ING please excuse me if this sounds a bit facetious, but have you ever heard of the Nike run app? These pictures are the snapshots that come after you complete the activity. As for links and things of that nature, you normally don't have anything that sophisticated in place when you are a close community that has an honor system amongst friends. I see your point though. I'll probably just have to paint the utility box in front of my house with flowers and sit it next to a little library, those seem to be very popular for exercise and exploration within the Niantic reviewer community for some reason.
@Stephyypooke-ING no, this community is an off-base military community for mostly the Navy and Marine Corps. They still fall under the Lincoln Military Housing contract, so no one can actually buy or rent these homes. Even still, I've just had locations on Marine Corps Air Station Miramar approved and that base doesn't allow street views for the entire base, this nomination has an up-to-date street view in google maps.
@sogNinjaman-ING Not to be argumentative about this statement, but where does it say this? Of note, there have been subdivision signs recently approved in other locations that have even less information than what I provided. It's very irritating to see this happen and then suddenly have mine rejected. Thank you for the feedback. In fact, thank you to everyone on this feed. I'm still upset, but I feel much better about the situation for sure.
@Bleiddn-ING Yeah, there's not going to be any websites or anything on this challenge because its not organized through any agencies such as our community baseball league and food drives. Just like our "Loop Challenge", you won't find anything on the internet about our community block parties or water balloon fights either, but you can believe me when I say they happen. It's fine though. I figured I would try to get as many stops in our community as possible, and there are plenty of other places that haven't been nominated yet. I know now that it's better to just leave the signs alone. I'm just happy that at least one of our signs got approved.
By the way guys, the pictures that have the highlighted path are my actual runs. They are screenshots from the Nike Plus app, not an outline that I traced out with my finger.
a personal run does not make a permanent loop that would be considered eligible for nominations. If that was the case every side walk in north america would be eligible and thats not the case
They can be eligible, they generally are not eligible.
@Jtronmoore-PGO sorry you got in on the conversation so late bud. I wasn’t saying my personal run should be eligible. I was explaining to someone that it wasn’t “google map trace”. Please read the previous messages to catch up. Thanks.
Nope never used the Nike run app.
Short answer is that if its not an offical route / trail then it doesn't qualify, its just a generic housing estate sign and and a 1* candidate
