I'm not receiving local Nominations for Review

Hello,
I live in Washington, DC and I have about 400-450 nominations reviewed so far. For the past 2-3 months, I keep having to review nominations that are being submitted in other states and countries (Mexico, Brazil, Texas, Virginia, Montana..etc)
I have both of my locations set to Maryland/DC, so I am confused as to why I'm being asked to review nominations from all over the place EXCEPT my area. Can anyone explain why I am seeing this?? I have friends that are getting submissions to review in our area.
Thanks :)

It is normal to receive from other states, but receiving frequently from other countries is not so common. And this should be seen as a failure of the platform, it is difficult to analyze orders from other countries.
Unless you have a location set to Brazil or you have traveled there recently (physically or spoofed - not accusing you, just saying) you shouldn't be seeing Brazil.
As a US based reviewer, you will see nominations all over the country (typically these are suspected "upgrades" from those areas). You should see local areas based on where you have most recently played - note that this can be Ingress or Pokémon GO, regardless of which account has your Wayfarer access tied to it - for example, a friend who has PoGO account access and is only level 8 in Ingress still has location priority for reviews based on Ingress activity.
Also note that the system Niantic used to determine location can and will pull in boarder countries that, based on cells, consider them to be US - Mexico and Canada will sometimes show up for me - I actually get quite a bit of Ontario, CA. Another thing to note is that US Virgin Islands, Saipan, Guam, and Puerto Rico will show up in review from time to time, as they are part of the US.
One way to gauge your "local" review area is by seeing your "featured nominations" page. Out of curiosity, what is the location of currently featured Wayspots?
My featured nominations are Virginia and West Virginia. (2-3 hours away from me.) And yeah, I've never spoofed or traveled to Brazil lol. I don't see any logical reason as to why I'm getting nominations from everywhere else but my set locations. It's strange and annoying at this point. I also don't see a place where I can contact Niantic to ask for assistance (besides in game App). Today's nominations have been from Minnesota, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Way closer than Mexico, but still no where near me and definitely not in the same cell.
Now California.... My location is set to Maryland and DC. So annoying.
Niantic doesnt want to to review local.
They closed that door because, well, you know the playerbase.
Where are the submissions from on your "featured wayspot" page? The first page you get when you log into wayfarer
If those are not from your local area, then it hasn't registered where you are. The fix seems to be to download ingress and complete the tutorial. You can delete it again afterwards but you should see that the featured way spots will change to local ones.
Its normal to see reviews for all of the US and US territories as well as Mexico nominations from near the border. I don't see any problem here... (i suspect Brazil wasn't true and you are maybe misremembering)
Do you mean BunnyFett dreamed of reviewing Brazilian nominations, or can’t discern fantasy from reality? What are you even suggesting?
It's the only thing that isn't completely normal for a reviewer in the US.
Or is confusing Brazil for a another country/territory
From what I gather, no one else in this thread or whom I know is having this issue. I have gotten reviews from Brazil, Mexico, and Canada.. It doesn't make sense to me.. it also doesn't make me want to review anymore (some of it is not in English.)
My last reviews; West Virginia, California, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, MEXICO....
These are most likely upgraded nominations that get pushed out to a wider review area.
You aren’t seeing any nominations from the Washington DC area?
A friend submitted in DC during a visit and they are his oldest nominations. It is most likely a super slow review area so the nominations from there aren’t being shown to reviewers as often as the other ones you are seeing.
I review in Madrid, Spain. This week, I have seen way more France, Portugal, Andorra and Gibraltar than I normally do. France and Portugal are both mostly border areas, but still.
Could be worse language wise. I am a native English speaker in Spain, with B1/B2 Spanish. I get Catalan, Euskara, Portuguese, Galician, French and English language reviews. Euskera has got to be the worst; it might as well be Swedish. I can't read any of it in most cases beyond a handful of words I learned on memrise. Luckily, Wayfarer culture in Spain has short titles and descriptions. Not paragraphs. ("Iglesia" was a recent title with a description of, "Iglesia vieja del pueblo ".) Makes it a lot easier to rate in that sense.
Border nominations from Mexico and Canda are normal... as stated multiple times... brazil is not, can you prove you got one from there?
I will do better at making you happy and I will get a screenshot the next time I see one......
Nope, even though I live here and my locations are set to this area, I have yet to review a Washington DC nomination lol. Wish there was an actual support service for wayfarer.
Thank you kindly, my happiness is my ultimate goal.
This is a map showing S2 level 6 cells with the red area selected being Washington, DC. Your "natural" review area is typically defined as your current play area's level 6 cell + the surrounding 8 cells. Your natural area also allows "upgrades" or otherwise prioritized nominations across the country, hence why you'll see nominations from California, Nebraska, Texas, and even Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands from time to time, as well as nominations in Canada and Mexico immediately along the US boarder.
Your "featured Wayspots" you said was in Virginia & West Virginia. "Featured" should be your current region, meaning it should be that center cell, although is nothing was accepted recently it may expand to a wider range. If your featured screen is consistently outside of that center cell, I'd suggest playing every Niantic game you ever have linked to your email, because sometimes Niantic is weird about how it prioritizes your location.

I've done more than 30,000 reviews while located in an L6 cell that would include Washington DC as part of its review area and it's very, very rare that I'll see something from the city. I'm sure I've seen many more Lititz, Pa. submissions than WDC submissions. The L6 cell that contains Washington is very badly throttled in general and the L9 cells that contain the city are even more so. Nothing budges at all without upgrades. So, the yeah, the system is working as intended. It's just a very, very, very, very unfair system.
When they introduced upgrades in early 2019, I suddenly saw a bunch of WDC submissions as the gridlock was finally somewhat broken up.
Is it because DC is in the Northeast quadrant of a populous level-6 cell? The algorithm begins by analyzing the Southwest quadrant and never looks outside of it until there are no unresolved nominations, there?
