Upgrades getting applied automatically and randomly?

Hey, I've received the 10 upgrades from the challenge, and 2 of them were applied immediately. After a while another one was applied and now I'm already at 6 applied upgrades without me even choosing "upgrade next". I can't do anything about it. Anyone else has that problem?

That is how it is suppose to work. If you haven't pre-selected a nomination to be upgraded, any available upgrades will be assigned to a random nomination.
So.. why wouldn't you select the upgrade next?
