Came across this while reviewing.
How do Historic Districts fall under the criteria?
Answers
Historic/cultural significance? Yes.
Safe access? Yes.
Visually unique? that would depend on whether this is a single sign, or if there are multiple... say on every street corner in the district?
As for the overall rating? IMO I'd definitely rate it high if there were some informative text on the sign itself that detailed some of the history. Just a small sign such as the one pictured, I'd probably rate a 4.
Niantic is a GIANT fan of signage. Jokes aside, I think these are decent points of interest. I would 4-5* depending on quality. This one looks fairly nice, on a nice pole. I would generally think this is 5*. Its the areas historic district so people might go to that area just to see the historic district. Good Ped access etc.
I would say though I probably would reject if I saw others on the near by as in most situations these markers are at all streets leading to the distinct. Not that there can't be more than 1 accepted but probably best to not accept every single one in a couple block radius.
