barbecue area follow criteria? I never see it in criteria and i think not follow criteria. I dont understand way people accept if it not in criteria and not follow criteria.
A favorite gathering place for friends or strangers alike, where you can share a drink or meal, be entertained, or watch public life happen. Or something that draws us together to share an experience in a locally and culturally relevant way.
Not in the example, but it depends on how you read the above, doesn't it?
It's not an automatic shoe-in, but very much depends one the description and supporting statement.
But I would not call what is pictured a BBQ pit. It looks more like a campfire.
There is a basket in it by the looks of it. I'd say its more bbq than campfire
A campfire is an impromptu fire pit. Nobody is relocating that concrete tube, sand, cinders, grill, and split logs. Looks like a BBQ pit to me.
Just to be clear, it doesn't matter what you call it. If it meets the social criteria, then it can be eligible. This looks permanent enough and looks like enough of a gathering spot that I think accepting it is just fine. I also wouldn't blame anyone who disagreed and chose to reject it.
I cant see it follow critera. Where in critera Niantic say we must accept campfire?
Critical thinking is important... not everything needs to be specifically called out.
They don't say we must accept campfires.
Where in criteria does it say we must reject campfires?
I've seen plenty of permanent campfire pits. The campground I'm working at now has two of them. What is important is whether they are places created so that people can to socialize.
Thank you commenters!! I agree a campfire and/or grill/bbq area IS eligible from the social and gathering place aspect. I recently had one rejected and it’s very disappointing.
niantic needs to work more on their viewable criteria. As a LOT of reviewers don’t seem to have critical thinking skills. Hardly anyone comes to these community pages or Reddit to look at the updates and changes. Niantic has made very few updates to the criteria area on the wayfarer site which means most people are going by the original criteria and a LOT has changed since then. And also apparently more things need to be spelled out…….talking about YOU, pedestrian access!!
Niantic doesn't say that we must accept anything. Nothing is a must accept. There is only a list of "Must reject" and BBQ or Campfires aren't in that list.
You must read the guidelines and understand them.
@jontebula-ING Just a heads up, there is a specific area on this forum for criteria clarifications.
Share the link.
We are in it.
I never accept campfire. For me easy not follow criteria.
Hope Niantic can answer here if campfire follow criteria.
Niantic is trying to get away from the practice of spelling out every single thing that could possibly meet criteria, and there is no reason that they should need to do so. It is up to you as a reviewer to apply the guidelines you are given to decide if a nomination meets the acceptance criteria, regardless of whether or not it appears on Niantic's list of examples.
Please explain how they do not meet criteria?
I would say that a permanent campfire pit, especially one with bench seating around the fire pit, meets the socialization criteria as they are created to be places where people gather together for a social activity.
I agree! They are also man made and easily identifiable from their surroundings, and often encourage physical activity as they're located in the outdoors.
Great place to be social, great place to explore, gives exercise walking to get to it. Acceptable for sure
