People in the photo: (maybe) I made a mistake

Hello, you know how the preview picture is cropped when you submit a nomination through pokémon go? Well...

I didn't notice that woman on the right until after I completed the submission and I went back to double check the details.

Is this enough to warrant a rejection? Since I caught it in time (it's not being voted yet), can someone from the staff crop the picture if needed?

Thanks in advance.

This will get rejected for person. It’s not the right application of the criteria but that doesn’t stop people looking for easy agreements. You better of pulling it and resubmitting.

It should, the actual guidines say that people are allowed so long as they aren't blocking the poi and they arent obviously posing for the picture

The individual in the photo isn't the main focus of the submission and they can't be easily identified since their face isn't shown, so it shouldn't be an issue.

    Don't withdraw it.

Your nomination should be acceptable. The people are not in focus, not blocking or distracting from the POI, not posing for the picture, and their faces are not recognizable.

Why wait six months just to have it rejected for having a person in it. I agree that its the wrong application of the criteria but lets not be foolish. It's easy pickings for agreement fishers. Don't feed the fish. Seriously, you could wait six months have this rejected and then have to resubmit and hope it goes through in another six months, or you could withdraw it now and get a better photo. Heck, you may also get visible license plate as a rejection reason for the jeep in the background. I've seen worse.

@nineko84-PGO if you want this to go through, withdraw and resubmit a clean photo. Don't give folks a reason to reject. If you want to risk it feel free but understand its a gamble. If its me I'm puling it and would resubmit, I don't want to waste my time. Anyone who's telling you its fine is doing you an injustice and setting you up for a frustrating rejection.

    I disagree.

If he wants to submit another nomination in case this one is rejected that's fine, but there's no reason to remove this nomination, he won't get anything good by removing it. The nomination won't be added back to his list, so just let it be and add a new one when he has another nomination slot.

People that want to reject then will say that the new picture is tilted, or that it's PRP, or anything. If we must take care of all the possible reasons then the best game is not to play, don't send any nomination and then nothing will be rejected.

The ones that are foolish are the ones that would reject this nomination based on a woman from the back of the far side of the photo. We all know that sooner or later this will be approved, so anytime anyone reject this nomination is wasting the time of everyone.

Sorry @WheelTrekker-ING but there is so much flaw in that logic.

This will take up a spot in the queue, or the second one will take up a spot in the queue; and since only a certain number of nominations can be in voting at any one time one will slow the other down. By removing it a new submission will get into voting faster. If the first one goes through, maybe, just maybe the nomination remembers to pull the second; doubtful. So now the local queue has a duplicate waiting for voting. We should be advocating for cleaning out the system not adding to it.

Yes some people will reject regardless if that is their modus operandi, but the less reasons you give reviewers to reject the less rejection votes you will pick up along the way. Since it takes far fewer rejections to get a submission tossed out you are far less likely to have your nomination rejected if a couple of potential rejection reasons are removed. Removing all the bad variables you can increases your chances dramatically. It's the one thing you have actual control over during a review process.

Again I am not saying that any of these would the right reasons. Not advocating for rejecting this like this, but pick your battles. I'd bet good money this would get rejected. Better odds then at any casino.

@nineko84-PGO if you want this wayspot to be successful (obviously rhetorical as you took the time to submit and then went a step further asking for feedback) you are better off resubmitting and taking out any potential rejection reasons, as flawed as they may be.

There is no downside to withdrawing and resubmitting unless its hard for you to get back to this POI.

One of my nominations was rejected because I had made a photo over my shoulder with the front camera. - Because of space issues, the photos of the main camera were too big (I assume) and caused the app to crash. - This Photo had a little bit of my forehead and hair in one corner. I clearly wasn't recognizable by that, but people rejected it because of "person".

@nineko84-PGO I would withdraw that photo if it wasn't already upgraded.

I’ve seen worse get accepted so why remove when it could get accepted. It’s a waste of time & of a submission & that’s the real inevitable truth

You are probably more so speaking from experience & the reason is probably because you mentioned it in supporting info so others possibly just denied it because it was mentioned.

If their face is not recognizable it’s not necessarily unacceptable whatsoever so long as they are unrecognizable by the photos. Google has the time to wipe people from their maps like they were never there. Wayfinders & normal people like us, we do not. We are doing this work for free. It’s not the ideal photo but I’d recommend just letting it run its course.

If there’s something else worth submitting, submit it & come back to this if you have to.

Also, the term application is technically the incorrect term in the English language. The correct terms are nomination, submission, or submitted nomination (submitted for nomination

I don’t see the woman doing anything inappropriate as there is no illegal activity or pornographic or erotic acts being done in the photo. We can’t even see her face & that’s the reason for denying is because of person or submitter identifiable, but this person is unidentifiable at all. The face that is visible is unnoticeable & even necessarily unrecognizable. She isn’t even the focus of the photo

(I apologise to the staff for the multiple edits, I didn't see that my post needed to be approved)

It may be good for others to see this post for future reference. The reason being that if there is a person but they are not the focus & there are no identifiable features, then it is to be accepted if whatever is being submitted is easily acceptable such as this

Yes, I meant that that specific post could be deleted, not this whole topic, which can indeed be useful. Since I attached a picture, I didn't realise I double posted by mistake (posts with pictures need to be approved by the staff, so I thought it didn't went through and I entered it twice). I see they already rectified this, as the post you quoted doesn't exist anymore. Or does it? Some of my text disappeared as well. Oh well. I'm sorry about this mess, I apologise to the staff.

Anyway yeah, it was accepted, now I hope it's actually going to appear since it's awfully close to the church and I still have no idea about the black magic behind cells, but that's a matter for another day.

    Thanks to everyone who replied!

    Best regards :)

@nineko84-PGO an app I can recommend looking into is IITC

I see what you mean about the edit now. You posted & had to edit & it submitted to admin to review first. It happens. No worries.

The positive thing above all is that regardless you helped the community. Thank you for that. Take care

This post is a happy moment and a victory. You have a good local voting community AND also, a supremely fast queue turnaround.

Our city (nowadays) has a fast turnaround, but even one single person or silhouette will warrant a body part or person reject.

Good job with sticking with it! Glad good reviewers were looking at it

I wish the "good local voting community" part could be true: I can only get things approved when I am in another city (like this one, when I was on the mountains for the weekend), but everything I nominate in my own city is constantly rejected even faster because there is a group of players who run the show. But that, too, is a topic for another day.

Thanks again for the support, everyone!

Dont pull it from submissions just take another picture and resubmit it. If its rejected you already have it in the system if its accepted the second nomination will be made a duplicate. No big deal no drama
