Bike lane are not safe for pedestrian
Hello everyone.
One of my submission got rejected because it didnt have a safe pedestrian access. It was an information board next to a bike lane. Does anyone know what niantic think about it?

Is it specifically a cycle lane or is it a shared path?
Also, my French is appalling, would it be possible to get a rough English translation of your description and supporting?
@NorthSeaPoet-ING
rejection reasons in the mail:
lack of safe pedestrian access
does not meet criteria
Description:
The center of Saint-Lambers contains multiple small local shops, small parcs with picnic-area's and other services
Supporting info:
Directional marker, Plaque with name of the area
There's a sidewalk on the other side of the street, on this side there's only a bi-directional bicycle lane.
But to me the nomination is what he states in the addidional info: Directional marker towards the city center. It's at a red light so probably meanth to guide car-drivers towards the city center.
I agree with the "does not meet criteria"
I bike lane is NOT pedestrian access, you must have access ON FOOT, a sidewalk across the street does not fulfill this requirement.
If there was an obvious place or designated area for a bicyclist to stop and get off then that may change the discussion. That is not the case here. You may not need a direct footpath leading up to an area but you must be able to safely become a pedestrian at the POI.
However this would not qualify for a variety of reasons. At best you could make a case it falls under place to explore but that's a stretch. Properly rejected.
What, then, do you make of the paved area to the right of the inner white stripe? Is that not precisely a bicycle pull-off and rest area?
I was thinking more a designated bike repair station or something. (See below for examples). If they had something like this I would be in favor of it. So if that section was larger and was created for bikers to fix something or take a break and it was safe to become a pedestrian, even in a small area in my mind it would no longer be ineligible for not having pedestrian access. I don't think anyone could make a case that that 18 inches of paved area inside the white area was designed to be a refuge for a bicyclist needing to get off their bike outside of an emergency perhaps.
In my opinion, this bike lane is part of the road transport, so yes, this is lacking of pedestrian access.
Pedestrian access is probably a subsidiary reason for the reject. The main one is probably doesn’t meet criteria as it is a direction sign.
Agreed. You're looking at the wrong rejection reason.
The directional sign doesn't meet any criteria. No one meets at the sign. It is not an exercise sign. The sign has no beauty or art worth exploring.
Sometimes Niantic throws a random rejection reason in there, to keep bots from "gaming the system". Or, maybe one person (of 50-100) stray-clicked the pedestrian reason by mistake, so Niantic threw it in your response.
