There are active people from your local area(Boston area) on this server not a lot but 2 very active reviewers and a couple more casual ones. You might have decent luck getting input on stuff like this there since their likely to see yours and others in the area. I'm currently on hiatus from reviewing for a few weeks and I've left this group.
If weren't reviewing in that area, then you wouldn't have noticed the increase in French nominations from Quebec. There may be language issues on some nominations. The not so straight forward stuff might confuse the French speakers,
Also, considering you asked I'm curious in your mind what criteria would this not meet?
When selecting this as your option this is the guidance provided by Niantic.
Use for Nominations that do not meet all of the acceptance criteria, or meet any other rejection criteria.
Here is a refresher from the Criteria page.
Acceptance Criteria:
Must meet at least one of the three eligibility criteria
A great place for exploration
A great place for exercise
A great place to be social with others
Must be a permanent physical, tangible, and identifiable place or object, or object that placemarks an area
Must be safe and publicly accessible by pedestrians (indoor or outdoor)
Must contain accurate information in the title, description, and photo
Don't see this falling into any of those.... are you suggesting gyms are not valid wayspots? I can show you countless examples where the community would not agree with that sentiment.
Looking for any pearls from folks who may have been able to get your local fitness center or gym through the system. Thanks in advance.
Thats honestly a well made nomination, I would have approved as is. Im not very good with words for these kinds of things but the discord linked above has members that are good with words. As well as a nomination guide for local hot spots linked in their resources.
Id agree to accept this. For some reason people want local gyms to be unique and do backflips in order to not be a “generic business” even though theres generally only a select few gyms in most towns. Fits perfectly into exercise category and also fits into socialization category. Ive had trouble getting local gyms in my community to pass as well for what reasons I cannot figure out
I, too, once tried to nominate a real-life gym in my city, just to see it rejected right away. I thought that the "gym" word triggered some automatic rejection filter since it's a word used in Pokémon Go?
This was before the rejection reasons were visible in languages other than English, so I never knew and I never tried again to be on the safe side (if "gym" was indeed a banned word I didn't want to risk being flagged for abuse).

Was the other rejection reason on your e-mail "Does not meet criteria"?
Nope.

I really like this nomination, too. Definitely bad rejection reasons.
I personally cringed and rolled my eyes at "with you fellow gym rats," though. I would have left that part off.
You could put something about how this highlights local culture, too, in the Supporting, you found one of the few "meets all criteria" candidates.
If there's anything about competitions or events it hosts, I'd mention that, or maybe medalists?
I really think it's a well done nomination. Great description,

To reject this because of a license plate - which is not even readable - in the supporting photo is mean.
I think this is a good nomination. Perhaps except for the gym rats as mentioned before.
I would've approved it. Not sure why people rejected it.
So are you saying that "gym" and its translations (e.g. "palestra" in Italian) aren't banned words? Maybe I'll try again eventually.
And I'm sorry if I piggybacked on someone else's topic, but I felt it was somewhat relevant.
"Gym" is acceptable in this case because it is relevant to the real world object.
Saying "Mind Body and Spirit would be a great place for an EX gym" in the Description would be irrelevant and should be rejected.
Just had another local gym denied. This one straight Does not meet Acceptance Criteria. So sad, this system is so broken.
