The applicant who started numbering them as he liked. (Yamagata-City)
Hi, @NianticGiffard .
I have found examples where the applicant has taken the liberty of numbering the objects as Wayspot names when the actual objects are not numbered.
Title of the Wayspot:瀬波地蔵尊
Location:https://intel.ingress.com/intel?ll=38.281996,140.307722&z=17
City: 3-7-29, Senami, Yamagata City, Yamagata-Pref.
Country:Japan
IITC
The subject Wayspot is a Jizoson, a Jizoson sitting in a small red-roofed hall.
However, the fact that the name of the Jizo is followed by a "2" is not due to the name of the place, nor is it posted in the object's hall, but simply to make it more convenient for the applicant to remember. It appears to be just a number given for the convenience of the applicant.
The proposer of this title edit seems to have started the numbering at will.
Please investigate this applicant.

This is not abuse. It never was and it never will be. This is completely within the rules of Wayfarer. As a reviewer, if you dislike numbering, you can vote for the numberless option and that's it.
There are written guidelines for wayspot titles though, and it isn't at all clear how this numbering is consistent with those.
If a wayspot is currently using the official title of the subject, then the edit is clearly lowering the quality. If the current title is not official but is unique in the area, then there is no real reason to make the edit.
It also sounds like an actual breach of the guidelines if the numbers are being used as codenames for the wayspots in game.
I completely and vehemently disagree.
First of all: "codenames" in the guidelines refers to players' names. Numbering Wayspots that are otherwise named the same or very similarly actually makes them more identifiable, which is encouraged in the guidelines.
Also, something being "unnecessary" is very different from "abuse". This is something OP is also struggling with, but I really don't understand why this is such a hard concept. If you don't like the proposed change, don't vote for it. That's it.
Your comment shows exactly why the report of the OP is wrong.
The guidelines ask us to provide identifiable names for each wayspot, and the OP even confirms that:
to make it more convenient for the applicant to remember
So why would it be more convenient to remember if you add a number to the title? Maybe because the title without the number isn't unique enough?
In that case the proposed title edit totally fits the provided guidelines and the OP is abusing the system by reporting such proposal as abuse in the forums.
All post offices in the US are officially titled "United States Post Office". However, it can be extremely difficult to distinguish between one post office an another, especially when people are using them as anchors to create fields. When you see the message show up in COMMS under recent activities, you are confused as to which "United States Post Office" is being linked to which. Thus it is preferable to rename the Wayspots based on their location, such as "<location> Post Office". This is perfectly acceptable under Niantic's rules because a distinctive title that distinguishes it from other Wayspots is much prefered over a generic 'official' title that is the same as other Wayspots.
Hi @MagicalThorn-ING! This discussion is similar to the previous one where we have clarified using numbers and something similar for candidates is permissible and cannot be considered as abuse.
Hi, @NianticGiffard .
Suppose that the object is named sample1 from the point of view of a person A. At the same time, however, suppose that another person B wants to name the object sample2.
These two people's ideas will conflict.
In the first place, the object has its own proper name, and there is no need for Person A and Person B to assign it any number they want, but if a proper name exists, shouldn't the proper name take precedence?
Hi @MagicalThorn-ING , if two players nominate the same wayspot, not both will enter review at the same time. One will be reviewed and then the other will be marked as a duplicate. If the naming scheme is supposed to be off for any reason you and other reviewers can edit the title of the wayspot.
If you believe a candidate is better off without a number then you are free to vote accordingly on the proposed edit. You can even attempt to edit the wayspot yourself and create an appeal in this forum if your edit is unsuccessful. However, reporting the editor for abuse/asking for the editor to be investigated is not at all appropriate.
