Reminder: Only Wayfarer Related Posts in this Community

Hi All,
Just wanted to post a reminder that on the Wayfarer Community we should only be posting Wayfarer specific content, questions, suggestions, etc. For all other Niantic games, please make sure you go through the in-game support tools or official community forums.
- Ingress: https://community.ingress.com/
- Pokémon GO: https://nianticlabs.com/support/pokemongo/
- Harry Potter Wizards Unite: https://community.harrypotterwizardsunite.com/
- Catan World Explorers: https://community.catanworldexplorers.com/
- Transformers Heavy Metal: https://community.tfheavymetal.com/
While we are more than happy to pass the message along to the appropriate team, making your game-specific post on the appropriate avenue(s) will ensure that your posts are addressed appropriately and in a timely manner.

Would it be possible to add a few words to the "send this post to mod approval" limbo to prevent the deluge of off-topic posts in the future? Like if it asks about Gyms, Interaction Distance, or other common in-game related problems that aren't appropriate here? It might help.
Yeah, IDK why lately theres been an explosion of completely off topic discussions...
Hi @NianticTintino Great to have this reminder. It does look out of place that Pokémon GO doesn’t have a forum though. This was raised here;
Was any further thought put in to this? Additionally you’re missing Transformers: Heavy Metal which is out in some regions already. Can you add it to your list?
Also, could this be an “Announcement” and maybe “Unpin” the November 2020 AMA?
Someone also commented with the “Pikmin App” forums which I can’t recall as they don’t follow the same set up as the rest, but that’s also due out this year and is available in Australia and Singapore.
If we are including all Niantic game resources in the top post, it should have all of them. Worth having something similar across the other forums too.
Yes, we need locations to discuss things, otherwise gen discussion becomes the location.
Hi @NianticTintino
I agree with the sentiment, but this forum has been long overrun by players of a specific game, I know there have been a few odd posts about other games not in relation to the Wayfarer product itself, but the scale has been 90/10 in terms of sheer numbers, anyone who's been here long enough can see this forum has turned into a "where'z ma p0kestop?", none of which is relevant to discussion, whether an approved waypoint makes it into Ingress, PoGo or some other game isn't relevant. The answer has always been that not all waypoints are used by xyz games (apart from Ingress as it's Nia's own IP and not decided by outside influence)
Secondly, this forum has had a serious lack of moderation, and still has to some regard. As @PkmnTrainerJ-ING's thread shows, due to a lack of a PoGo specific place, this forums has become the go-to specific place for all things PoGo, and just looking down the recent threads here shows a lot of them should just be outright closed/delete as not relevant to Wayfarer. Niantic has (for a long) time been unwilling to police the PoGo side of things short of just closing threads after people post that this is the wrong place.
"Where is my pokestop" question belongs to wayfarer. It is related to nominating new pokestops, adding POI to the games, and when players can't find accepted POI in game, they come here with the question. The answer, "not all wayspots are added to all games" is not a secret, should be just added to F.A.Q. in my opinion. Other pokemon questions are not related to wayfarer, but they are in fact rare.
Now, the backend changes introduced missing portals to ingress, so "where is my portal" and "how can I see all wayspots in the area when they are missing from all games" can be added to F.A.Q. as well.
the whole purpose of this post was to end these kinds of talks. Please direct your concerns to the proper personnel through their own means.
It would probably reduce the number of off-topic questions asked if inappropriate threads where deleted, rather than locked. This forum doesnt see a huge amount of traffic and even entirely off-topic threads that are locked remain in the public eye for days before the drop off first couppe pages of recent topics.
If people were seeing these types of threads less, they would make them less.
(For what it's worth, the same thing should apply to Wayspots in the system that no longer meet eligibility criteria. If people stopped seeing them in game as examples, people would be less likely to submit them.)
The "where is my pokestop" posts are all caused by the way Niantic decided to make Wayfarer a "behind the scenes" thing and the poor communication in general.
In PGO, you nominate a "Pokéstop". You get an email that reads "Thank You for Nominating a PokéStop for Review". After it's approved, you get another that says "Your PokéStop Nomination Is Eligible" in the subject. Up to here, we have no mentions to wayfarer or to other games.
In the text it then hints that "Please keep in mind that not all eligible PokéStop nominations are able to appear live in Pokémon GO, depending on proximity to other PokéStops; however, they may appear in other Niantic games." To me it's very confusing to say that "A Pokéstop nomination may appear in other games"...
And worse of all, if in the end it does not show, you get no other feedback at all. I would expect at least an e-mail saying that unfortunately you nomination won't make into the game because it's too close to other existing "Pokéstops" or something.
I don't know much about how it works in Ingress, but it seems to be very similar (at least it has the same naming issue, you are nominating a "Portal") and now they are changing the e-mails to be just like in PGO (more confusing than it was before and we already see Ingress players complaning here as well).
Considering this, it's expected that it will be flooded with these questions and complaints. Fix the process and it won't be a problem (not such a big one, anyway).
And I have to agree regarding the lack of moderation. I may be wrong, but it seems to me the moderators only show up when they are tagged or posts are flagged. Appart from the appeals sections, it doesn't seem that we have people actively reading all the posts here.
The posts I'm referring to are things like:
"Ban the spoofers in the gyms" "Why aren't pokemon spawning at the stop I made", "Why arent the roads and buildings updated in PoGo (OSM)" "New moves for Pokemon to battle with "...
These have NOTHING to do with Wayfarer... There has been a influx of these lately IDK from where. "where is my pokestop" isn't great... but it is much more wayfarer related than the others that I mentioned and we have been seeing in the General Discussion board...
I will always be using, and submitting stops in context of PoGo, as that is what I play. I played Ingress at launch for a little while, and PoGo, but only picked PoGo back up last year. And then I wanted to hit lv38 and join Wayfarer to help improve the map as it was one of the biggest reasons I stopped playing (lack of stops in the area I was in at the time). But I know how to compartmentalize my questions and make sure things here are only Wayfarer related.
If we are making suggestions……
I think having a separate area for reporting possible cases of faking or misuse of the system. Posting in a general forum doesn’t seem appropriate.
This would be great. Especially to help our super sleuths here work together and discover the nefarious groups vandalizing the map.
the problems in PGo have taken overhand. People out there are not happy with alot of things, and the "Pokemon Go Support via Ingame" is like talking to your cat.
So alot of the peepz out there are clutching at straws and try their luck at the "Wayfarer" Forum. People dont read anything, so this needs to be much more prominent (something like a popup when someone makes their posting like on reddit).
Only this way Niantic would be able to stop people from creating another Pokemonz Thread.
Are you NianticTintino?
Nice that you know the whole purpose of the post and have appointed yourself what: Postmaster?
It can be annoying when somebody claims to ‘own’ a thread or topic, but it’s understandable for the originator to request we remain on topic… …but that’s not you.
I mean its directly the title of the thread but ok sure.
It might be helpful to have a period of time where new members cannot create new threads, but can comment on existing posts. This might cut down on the more redundant issues.
People out there are not happy with alot of things, and the "Pokemon Go Support via Ingame" is like talking to your cat.
Well, the difference here is I actually enjoy talking to my cat - although we usually keep to Wayfarer-related topics. :)
Just delete them or close them with an explanation as to why with official in game link to the game in question help page.
I'm getting fed up of wayfarer being overrun with PS subjects it's great there interacting but like there only submitting not reviewing they haven't a clue or just don't care.
This discussion should be kept somewhere where it can be easily seen by everyone.
It would be nice if that restriction could be enforced.
And if it can be done, it should be limited to players who are actually at a level where they can be nominated and reviewed on Wayfarer.
Some of the players here are Ingress agents whose last logged play was almost two years ago, and some are Pokémon trainers who haven't logged in for a while, so it would be best to be able to prevent them from posting if there is more than a certain interval between the dates of their last play.
Source about that last logged in in years to play thing about players here?
Some people may actually be posting their Pokemon-Go related rants by clicking 'New Discussion' in the front page of Wayfarer before they even go right into the General Discussion to see posts like these (which I agree should be pinned on top). So no matter how many times you remind people not to post anything of such, people are still going to post no matter what.
Just delete them if they appear. Often they're posted by people who are very unfamiliar or new to the community. If they just stay as "closed", people will think that it's alright to post about them because they have been in the past and still exist on the forum. Seldom do we see Pokemon-related posts on the Ingress Community Forums (two in mind are the Pokemon GO Raid Egg posts and several bug reports of Portals not appearing in Ingress but do in Pokemon GO) but I notice they get deleted really quickly.
I think their XM Ambassadors have an influence on what gets removed promptly or not as well and escalate some stuff. Why not implement a similar role to these community forums under the role of a Community Advocate? Is there any reason why this forum can't use the same "promoted content blocks" that the Ingress Community Forums have currently? It would be super useful and get important notices and messages across to the masses.
From many sources.
In some cases, the person himself says he doesn't play anymore, and in other cases, if you look at his agent profile, you'll see that his AP has barely changed.
Pokémon Go is more uncertain than Ingres, but there are cases where he has said so publicly.
Maybe you should start creating FAQs related to Wayfarer.
Every new person in this forum will constantly asking or yelling, "Where's my Pokestop?" "Why I got 24 cooldown?" "Help my nomination stuck in-queue/in-voting for months" "Can I get the test again I've failed two times" "Those reviewers are rejecting my 5* nominations!" and so on.
I hope we can agree that having welcoming forum where people can ask questions and discuss is the key goal.
There is no such thing as a stupid question. If you have a question then you should ask it.
People often arrive here to ask questions “too late” and have reached a state of frustration.
There is also a large language and cultural issue to be overcome. Messages can easily be misread and misinterpreted
So there needs to be a reminder that all need to be treated with respect, even if it’s the umpteenth time a question is asked, it is the first time that the individual has asked it.
Ingress has had access to submissions edits reviewing etc for much longer and the settling in period has largely been worked through. The differences between how wayfarer impacts on the games is important and more appreciation needs to be in place. The edges of what is wayfarer relevant, are to me very fuzzy, so a small amount of latitude is needed.
There is nothing more likely to put a person off a forum than posting a question which from their perspective is reasonable if it results in deletion or abrupt responses, or seeing others get a similar treatment. They are unlikely to return and engage with any aspect of the information that is housed here…….and therefore more likely to act in ignorance if they review.
Having moderators more active in routine discussions, more part of the community would help.
As Catan World Explorers is shutting down;
and Pikmin & Transformers: Heavy Metal seems to on for a 2021 release is it worth updating (and pinning) this post @NianticTintino ?
Also, in relation to this, has any further thought been given to a Pokémon GO forum to stop those questions?
It might be nice to have moderators, even just in this one forum, who could move posts to the more appropriate forum. They could reply to non-wayfarer topics with a link to the correct location - then close the thread, and maybe move it to Archives in a day or so.
But of course their decisions would be argued with .This place seems to attract people who like to argue.
Hi @PkmnTrainerJ-ING,
All I can say is that we have shared the feedback with their team. Unfortunately, I don't have any updates on a Pokémon GO community like the Wayfarer Community.
@MargariteDVille-ING Actually that is a great idea! Maybe they hire the long time forum people here like @LukeAllStars-ING for example, if they would be up for it.
Is it possible for Pikmin Bloom’s forum to be added to the main post? https://community.pikminbloom.com/en
Also, guessing there’s still no Pokémon GO forum so we have to see the occasional ones here that aren’t anything to do with Wayfarer?
Oh, and probably remove Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’s link too if you’re tidying up.
