Maybe read the original post again, OP was very careful not to name the admin involved and didn’t personally blame them for deleted messages.
this isn’t a vendetta against a single person it is frustration at how the Facebook group is run and that it is actively promoting things which are against guidance and removing posts where guidance has been quoted
I disagree, if a group is promoting to a large audience that something not eligible is to be accepted and I’m reviewing correctly then I’m less likely to get the agreement and it could affect my wayfarer rating.
that’s also what Niantic have clearly said people are not allowed to do. Therefore the issue has now been brought here so Niantic reps can review the issue and decide how closely they want to keep an eye on the situation.
@0X00FF00-ING I think you have really lost a sense of the OP. I would recommend going back and rereading the entire post. This is not about harassment, or calling out a single user from these forums, this is about the potential for systematic abuse on a very grand scale, that is "hidden" from Niantic. Can't say it enough, you are missing the point of the post. you have not even tried to discuss the original point of the post.
You contend that users are harrassing Hosette, when you were the one that brought up their name and they themselves raised their hand.
You contend this post should does not concern Wayfarer and is off topic and shouldn't exist here; yet its about users using a FB page to try and influence voters in a way that goes against the guidance by Niantic by muting the voices of those that are attempting to correct the record which is a direct violation of Niantic ToS. Where else should we bring up abuses and violations of Niantic ToS? Reddit? TikTok? Grinder?
Real talk, you know how you know your on the wrong side of an argument. You get me and @Roli112-PGO to agree on something. That hasn't happened in 12 months. 😂
The OP's issue is not with the resolved matter, but with the lack of acceptance and embrace of said resolved matter. For the whole group to understand.
One admin explained their lack of actions within the group.... the whole admin team is still responsible for their actions and lack of actions... as I said earlier, there are still a number of users currently muted for asking why neutral screenshots of criteria were removed.
An unnamed former President thinks he is still the legitimate ruler of his little empire. I didn’t name any names, so that somehow means I can say anything I want about that situation, without ever being called out for libel or slander.
Except…
From the context, it’s absolutely true that YOU know which individual I’m talking about. Ergo, I am still liable for libel.
Same here with the OP. From the context, we all know who OP meant. And you know that I know. The argument that magically nobody knew who was involved until she spoke up herself? Ludicrous and disingenuous.
Harassment continues in the Facebook group, and the admins there continue to take action to minimize the hostility there. Perhaps once one has ACTUALLY had to moderate a public forum with hundreds, nay thousands! of people of varying stripes, one could be better suited to comment on their lack of comment.
What harassment is continuing in the facebook group? The only post made today was a link to this thread and it was deleted within an hour. The only comments in the group today were on a post about banners in a sports arena, and the aforementioned "bump" comments from an anonymous admin.
I admin a group of a few hundred, one of the things I’ve learnt is even with the best of intentions mistakes get made and definitely periods of self reflection and feedback from the group are essential to improving how things are run.
I've had a submission of my own posted in the group as an example of a bad submission, I listened to their feedback and while I didn’t necessarily agree with their decision I accepted that it was a 50/50 sub and I couldn’t do enough to convince them and other reviewers that it should be a POI so I moved on.
The issue (“don’t quote text, even if made publicly by the artist”) has been fully decided.
Somebody then makes a redundant post saying the same thing again? And then somebody makes a redundant post saying the same thing again? And then somebody makes a redundant post saying the same thing again?
The redundant posts are unhelpful and it can definitely be argued that they constitute harassment.
And then they get posted again? And removed again?
The admins are just working to keep the forum civil.
Redundant posts? The issue was never resolved within the group, the admin said she would ask for clarification a few messages after that the conversation was closed... The issue is never resurfaced, but a screenshot of the clarification was posted to the group and promptly removed... several people were invested in the original discussion and deserved to know said clarification. The screenshot was posted as such, just a screenshot, no additional text. How was that redundant? or the same thing? It was the first time the group saw said clarification.
The only "redundant" posts that were made were because posts were being deleted and comments were turned off, not allowing discussion.
Those posts were not made today, and they weren't harassing anyone. The post that was deleted today was not harassing anyone, either.
Edit: I actually admin over 800 groups on Facebook, so I'm well aware of what managing groups on that platform is like. The largest group I admin has over 11000 members.
If they are going to encourage breaking Niantic rules, and punish people who post official guidance, they should just be transparent and say so, instead of hiding behind anonymous posts.
I've not read everyones reply, but i just wanted to get my view across. I've done over 150 nominations, most of them accepted too , including war memorials and certain plaques. Now for everything else that i didnt have knowledge of, i have researched said place/object and put that information into my own words , editing my description post submission. In respect of war memorials for one, i have put the 'Quoted' text from the memorial into the description to save the player some time , a history lesson OR to not have to walk up to the thing and try read the carved stone.(sometimes they are really hard to read) Main point is , i refuse to straight copy and paste stuff from official websites regarding a nomination. My view is that you should treat it like being a tour guide for the area, tell the story your own way.
Why are spending so much time defending rule breakers? Nobody who isn't already convicted is not being convinced by what you're saying I can't decide if you're trolling or not. You've successfully de-mailed the thread so we're no longer talking about what the OP wanted to talk about, so well done for that, I guess
@0X00FF00-ING please let me know what "Redundant" "hostile" "inflammatory commentary" about this. This was the first time this NEW criteria was shared, (requested by a group admin). It's had not been brought, discussed, talked about or shared in post or comments before this screenshot.
I’m peaceably waiting for my comment with the screenshots I took to be approved. The screenshots that prove my point, that the admins are intentionally moderating redundant posts.
And @Anisaerah-PGO it’s not relevant that it may be YOUR first post about it to the group. It’s that you are not the ONLY poster on the topic.
The only reason there's was multiple posts was because they kept getting deleted, not once was there two screenshots at once. Go ahead and ask the posters themselves whose screenshots remain why they posted them.
Whilst I don’t think there’s anything that Niantic can really do, as Facebook can moderate their own stuff and it’s up to Facebook Group admins & moderators how they deal with things.
I’d say they’ve gone about it in entirety the wrong way for sure. It’s very much a “moar stopz” and bending of the rules group from my experiences.
What would be good is if the “Niantic Support” Facebook account which is a member of the group;
withdrew and distanced itself from the group. Looking back there’s posts from 2020 there that @NianticCasey-ING posted using that account.
If the group wants to do their own thing (and it seems not follow Niantic’s guidance) then let them, but don’t have any links left with anything officially Niantic.

You don’t like a Facebook group? Block it. Complain to Facebook about it. Message the admins. Post on reddit.
But a group’s policy on how they actively work to quell hostile commentary? That’s between them and, well, them.
It’s REALLY not about Wayfarer any more than that somebody’s park isn’t painted in dark green on their map. That’s between Niantic and, well, Niantic.
Both conversations are off-topic in these forums.
I disagree, if a group is promoting to a large audience that something not eligible is to be accepted and I’m reviewing correctly then I’m less likely to get the agreement and it could affect my wayfarer rating.

this isnt about "inflmantory commentary" this was direct screeshots of criteria from this exact forum. Refer to the following evidence
https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/comment/109135/#Comment_109135

A screenshot of a post by a Niantic employee is hardly "inflammatory commentary".
The hostility is in *your posts* and in the admins deleting comments and posts, and punishing users with no explanation.
I don't think this thread is intended to be a personal attack.
I think the main topic of discussion is how to protect the system from systematic abuse that interferes with the healthy development of Wayfarer.
If we are unable to protect the Wayfarer system from the abuse of some players, Wayfarer may be shut down.
That would be unfortunate for all of us.
That is why we need to discuss this issue seriously from a macro perspective.
An unnamed former President thinks he is still the legitimate ruler of his little empire. I didn’t name any names, so that somehow means I can say anything I want about that situation, without ever being called out for libel or slander.

It's not libel or slander to say things that are true.
Real talk, you know how you know your on the wrong side of an argument? When St. Cloud is on your side lmao

@0X00FF00-ING please let me know what "Redundant" "hostile" "inflammatory commentary" about this. This was the first time this NEW criteria was shared, (requested by a group admin). It's had not been brought, discussed, talked about or shared in post or comments before this screenshot.
This was the SECOND clarification, not to be confused with the 1st I posted earlier.
“Redundant” posts to the Facebook group, as I’d made abundantly clear.
How is sharing something for the first time redundant?
Edit:What Roli is sharing above is what was posted to the Facebook group. For the first time. Which was deleted almost immediately.
You guys should go to discord to talk about it or something. As I've said 100 posts before, nothing good will come out of this here.
Did you read my post, this was the FIRST TIME any mention of this new clarification was brought up whatsoever to the Facebook group.
I’m peaceably waiting for my comment with the screenshots I took to be approved. The screenshots that prove my point, that the admins are intentionally moderating redundant posts.

I didn't make any posts to that group today. Every post about the criteria and clarifications has either been deleted or had the comments turned off.
