Trail Markers: are they or aren’t they legible?

I thought it was simple, and that the answer is yes.
The community seems to think otherwise so what’s the answer?

Trail & Route markers all should be accepted, resub and good luck. We still have a lot of people that don't keep up with the changes made to the rules or guidelines.
I’ve been reading through these forums and it’s fascinating, some people have real power issues. Check out this reply to another thread;
“Ive rejected numerous trails that should have been an easy pass but were crippled by the submitter copying the trail description wholesale from the trail website.”
A copied description isn’t reason enough to decline a POI. I can’t find anything in Niantic’s guidelines that states this is a valid reason to decline a submission.
Trail markers are a simple, binary decision;
Trail marker with clear photo = approved.
A trail marker isn’t subjective, they’re approved criteria by Niantic. How do we fix this misalignment going forward to remove the subjectivity and to make sure that the community is broadly singing from the same sheet?
remind the people that reject them. if they dont comply, hasta manana.
As you can see from my profile I’m new to this forum, and I’ll be honest that it’s disappointing seeing some of the responses in various threads on here. Too many personal views and not enough consistent consensus, or just wholesale ignoring of the rules and guidelines because “I don’t like them”.
i hear alot "they are generic, uninteresting".
And that’s the point, it’s irrelevant what people might think of them. Niantic has publicly approved of Trail markers and that’s all that matters.
The best one is them people trying to tell us what is and what isn’t a route marker or trail marker.
how is one to define said markers?
Because 99% of the time it will be a clearly numbered marker on a public footpath or nature trail. It’s not hard.
A lot of us really want trails and their markers to be accepted.
Still, Niantic has made clear that copying a description from a third-party source is grounds for rejection. If the concepts are truly basic, just swap in a synonym or two, or form/break-up compound sentences.
Ok search blue NCN cycle route sign uk for me are they acceptable? They make routes and trails out all over the uk. The local ones lead into small towns and villages along the coast some are great places to explore.
If it has a unique identifier or marker on it, then absolutely. Without that then it’s just a generic sign, whereas with a marker it quite literally becomes a “Trail Marker” which cannot be argued.
For example, by Niantic’s guidelines this should be approved;
However I would say this one below wouldn’t as it’s a generic sign without an identifier or marker, but if anyone can confirm for definite I would appreciate it;
i agree with both the bike sign is a fail as it just a bike but the one with the number and arrow is leading you along a trail or route so should be acceptable.
Yes, this needs to be clarified by Niantic.
In Sweden we have this type as an example. Identical posts 30-40 meters all along the trail.
This recent comment from @NianticGiffard may help on this thread too.
These are 911 markers not trail markers.
