So this was rejected for being on private property, which my second photo shows very clearly that it is not. The name of the building is the same as the name of the street it is on, and both were named after one of the most famous poets in the history of the country because he lived in the area, which would make it historically significant. So what should I have done differently?

this looks like an appartement building???
how does this meet any criteria???
The criteria mention " a destination or a placemark of local interest and importance and which makes our communities unique and shapes its identity". The nomination is not the building itself, it's the name on the building, which serves the same purpose as a historical/memorial plaque or inscription. It's a visual reminder of a historical figure of great local interest and importance, a historical figure that has very much helped shape local identity, as his life in the area still instills a sense of local pride.
Basically the building is named that as a sort of memorial, and that's why I consider the name on the building historically significant. It's a visual indication of the presence of a great historical person and a reminder that he is part of the town's identity.
It's fair if you think that's weak, and I may not have done a good enough job of qualifying it in my nomination, but it didn't occur to me to do much explaining because I don't personally enjoy too wordy wayspot descriptions.
I agree that some descriptions can be overly wordy, but at least a short bit about Steen might be needed as not everyone is into poetry and of course you could say a lot more in the supporting information.
1* reject.
It's visually uninteresting, and not significant. Just because it's named after someone doesn't make it memorial or historical plaque.
This. So many things are named after historical figures. That alone does not make them historical. You will need to explain the significance of this particular building (assuming it is, in fact, significant).
Sorry but that’s a stretch. I stand by what I said and think it’s a correct rejection. You don’t go explore this sign or building. You don’t meet up at this sign. You don’t exercise at this sign.
you also don’t go nominate every street that is named after someone (I hope)
It looks not safe for players. What is this building?
