How did you feel about the answers to the September 2021 AMA?

Did @NianticTintino properly answer the questions to your satisfaction, or did the answers just create more questions?

What answers did you like and what answers did you not like?

Did the answers reflect a positive future for the Wayfarer platform?

Be sure to explain your reasonings in the comments below.

Most of the answers were about what I expected, questions were asked that we can reasonably surmise from past experience will not receive satisfactory answers.

The thing I liked least was that one of my questions which made the cut was simply ignored. And it's something that has been the subject of significant debate and that we were promised action on before Wayfarer even launched.

    The answers were somewhat bad

Most of the answers were very PR-like responses with very little actual substance. So many "We're excited about this and we're working on it!" Or "This is a good idea, and is important to us!" Very similar to Casey's first AMA which was received horribly.

There's more questions about the answers because of how little substance there was to them, or because of much the answers conflict with what is told to us about the wayfarer system. If it's going to take 3 months to give further clarification about these questions, the mood of this forum is going to be very sour for a while.

As you, @AisforAndis-ING, and @Gendgi-PGO mentioned... They totally glossed over the military residential area acceptability question even though it was 100% in the top 15 questions... Can we get clarification on this point?

Well I for one think this forum unfairly bashes moderators, wayfarer and niantic employees in general, calling them stupid and suggesting that they are fired. I think they are doing a great job and I want them to know that some people appreciate them amongst all the negativity in here.

i prefer not to have any AMAs in the future.

A lot of the answers read like campaign speeches and debates.

question is asked. Thanked for asking question. Restated the question. Talked about how important the topic is. Concluded.

it is appreciative when examples and hard some concrete decisions are made. Maybe with it being the first. I know a lot of us were hoping for more…. Maybe next one.

Instead of providing answers it feels a lot like he was steering around actual answers. I mean these were all replys but some of them have no content next to "we have this on our to-do". That feels a bit dull. I would have liked them to have actual to answers/solutions to the questions/problems proposed.

If you would ask me if I need it, no. I would rather have an active community around with some Nia mods leading the way in answering and replying in questions in the forum and put repeated questions on the FAQ page. I mean this is how it works with most forums.

Some answers were good, but, to me, some just seemed flat out wrong (maybe wasn't understood or I read it wrong) like, the answer to question 2 seemed to suggest upgrades don't make things go faster, but we know they do, and that it's just more likely to go into people's review list but we know it instead goes ojt to wider audience for want of a better word

Then there's the "2 star isn't a rejection" but it is, we know this, the wayfarer faq on the site tells us 3 star is unsure, no opinion, so if 3 star is unsure the 2 star is no. He also didn't really answer if 1 star in historical/safe/visually unique rejects the whole thing, but it's pretty much guaranteed it does contribute as they are rejection reasons.

My question got addressed so I guess I feel better about it than most.

But the side glance about cheating was particularly not good.

We were spoiled with Krug. We didn't know how good we had it until he was gone.

Well that was almost entirely pointless AMA, with barely any pertinent answers.

Seems like Niantics plan is to just provide fluff answers as long as possible and dither about.

What a pathetic waste of time that whole AMA was

I think the AMA was good if you were seeking a vague idea of the broader roadmap that Niantic is currently conceptualising when it comes to Wayfarer. Lots of "we think"s, "we're working on"s, and "we're looking into"s. I also think that that vague idea was not what the majority of those who are in the figurative trenches were looking for with this AMA.

This is exactly the problem, yes.

Vague answers are what we get all the time on the forum. And often it's good enough for casual forum interactions.

But an "event" like an AMA, that only happens once in a while - feels reasonable enough to expect more in-depth, to-the-point answers than what we usually get.

It's especially disappointing since we have been promised by Niantic that they will improve their communication with us. Less PR fluff, more down-to-earth. This AMA wasn't it.

Hopefully Tintino will learn from this experience and the December AMA will be more satisfactory on that front.

I went in expecting not much at all, and was pleasantly surprised to find a few things I was interested in among the taking points. So I thought it was ok.

They somehow missed the entire point on the #2 question about upgrades, which was disappointing. I liked seeing the clarity (at least I thought it was clear enough) on the 1* vs 2* rejection issue. As for the rest, it seemed to be a case of "we're interested and working on it," which is probably the most realistic position they're in; that is, not a position to offer a ton of clear specifics on those particular questions they ended up with. But that does make it hard to know whether they've got anything to say about those topics at all.

I was disappointed in the AMA but probably because of my own expectations. Echoing a lot of people here, the answers felt like non answers, lacking any real substance. I understand they can only tell us so much but I have an example of how I think an answer could have been improved.

Question 3 regarding a Lightship Map - the answer provided the same information that we already knew, that Niantic is working on showing all accepted POIs during the pogo nomination process. An hour later dataminers discovered this duplicate check in pogo which leads one to believe it is coming sooner than later and that @NianticTintino missed the opportunity to shed a little more light on the subject himself. An update to the estimated time frame of this feature’s implementation would have been a welcome addition to the AMA considering the sentiments shared by the community regarding the new pogo nomination limit.
