Gym not accepted

I'm used to nominations being rejected for stupid reasons, and when I got the rejection email for this one I fully expected it to be for photo quality. However instead it was just the following "This nomination has been rejected due to the following reason(s):

Nomination does not meet acceptance criteria."

I need clarification because I assumed a gym would be eligible in that it is a great place for exercise and this one in particular is also good for socialising with others. Am I wrong in that assumption?

Is this breaking a rule i wasn't aware of? Is it worth trying to nominate again?

Hi, it seems a good and valid nomination, but as a business it will take time to get it approved.

As you said, you can retry with better pictures.

The problem here is this rejection reason:

    • A generic business, chain, or franchise that is not locally unique

You need a good description to show reviewers it doesn't fall in this rejection criteria.

Businesses are tough sells, even when they are within criteria. Places such as gyms or dance studios that are great places to exercise, places such as restaurants or coffee shops that are great places to socialize, even businesses such as escape rooms that are great place to explore can be difficult to get through review due to lingering sentiment that businesses can or should pay Niantic for sponsored locations if they want inclusion in the game.

So, if you want a nomination like this one to get through approval, you often need everything as good as you can get it: Image, description, supplementary information. Include links to any awards they’ve won, events they’ve sponsored or hosted, etc; make the case they’re more than a workout center, but a part of the community.

    Good luck.

I personally when I see a gym nomination because it obviously meets criteria. I don’t consider them generic business’ unless its a chain and theres a ton around them like a planet fitness, goodlife, fit 4 less.

Id also say that because this is a gym entirely made for females it is not a generic gym. Its unique in the fact its woman only. In the information id go on to talk about how a female gym is a safe place for females to have a healthier lifestyle without having to worry about unwanted staring/comments from the opposite sex and how this would be culturally significant.

Huge supporter of anything fitness related and I’d give it 5’s across the board as it meets every check in the box for it to be a poi

Just because it’s eligible doesn’t automatically make it acceptable. You still have to “sell” your nomination.

Why is it a point of interest? What makes it unique or stand out?
