Accessibility of wayspots - company grounds

I'm in dubio about wayspots that are generally not accessible.

1 - Wayspot on a location that is freely accessible during certain timeslots - unreachable outside of these hours

2 - Wayspot in an amusement park, behing pay-wall: anyone can buy a ticket and go in

3 - Wayspot on company grounds where everyone can walk in and out during business-hours (near their open parking lot or in the lobby)

4 - Wayspot on company grounds with access to personel only, anyone can interact with the wayspot standing on publically accessible grounds.

5 - Wayspot on company grounds with access to personel only, not reachable from the street. You can request or book a guided visit to the site or building on a regular base

6 - Wayspot on company grounds with access to personel only, only personel can interact with the wayspot. No visit possible

I'm fine with wayspots upto number 4, In dubio for number 5, number 6 should not be in any game.

According to me number 6 meets one of the rejection criteria: "Locations that are intentionally and strategically placed to provide advantage to a single player or collective group."

Thanks for your opinions on this

These have all be clarified as eligible in the past, so long as things like photography and phones are not banned on site, but that may have been prior to the rule refresh. Iirc wording used by Niantic at one point was:

"...portals on commercial property are allowed, this includes apartment complexes. Portals on private residential property are not allowed. The issue is one of access. If the player controls the access and can categorically deny everyone, that's not fair. If a hundred people have access but only one is an Ingress player... well... that's an entirely different situation."

E.g. so long as it's not a location owned and accessible by one person, it's ok - if only one person at a 1,000-person company plays a Niantic game, eligible poi onsite are still eligible, even if only that one player can access it at the time it is created.

Regarding no. 6 meeting rejection criteria, there's nothing stopping someone from an opposing team getting a job at said site, and if existing players move on to work elsewhere, they can't take it with them - if it can be legitimately accessed by players and is not unsafe or meeting other rejection criteria, it is still valid.

    @NianticTintino - fancy re-clarifying this one?

Yes, these should all be fine. Just because something is behind a fence or in a restricted area of some kind doesn't really matter as long as it otherwise meets criteria. You don't personally have to have access, and there's no way to prevent competing players within the company from using the POI. I don't think the "collective group" refers to pedestrians vs company personnel.

That line is specifically about locating a Wayspot in a place specifically so it will show up in a particular game board and not at an accurate location or at a logical point of discovery if the object covers a large area. It has nothing to do with access to the location.

So there is a old wayspot of an fountain on the ground of the "BFZ (Berufsförderungszentrum) Peters" in Waldkraiburg, that falls under the number 6 in the list above.

The BFZ Peters turned into a anchor centrum (reception center for asylum seeker) in the year 2018.

Back in 2015, when there was the crisis with the refugees, there was no fence at all around the fountain.

In 2016 the owner built a fence, where you can see through to the fountain, but there was no accessibility for strangers anymore, only for the staff, refugees and residents of the BFZ Peters.

In 2018 the fence got upgraded, so you can´t even see the fountain from the pedestrian way.

This is a gym in Pokemon Go, where the players sometimes are parking on the right turning lane to fight at that gym or to do raids.

Should this wayspot be deleted or should it remain in niantic lightship?

You can also find old news on google by searching "bfz peters waldkraiburg" and then pictures.

The fountain seems to be fine. The behavior of drivers is up to real world police or security to govern, not anyone else. The fountain still exists and there's still a sidewalk, so people can park somewhere appropriate and walk. Just because they don't isn't grounds for removal.

So is a company museum valid? Because they have been failing it for a year. I state that it is free to access, you just need to ring to be opened

Without more details no one can say for certain but yes in most cases a museum located within a company building would be considered a valid wayspot assuming that it meets at least one of the acceptance criteria.

It should not be rejected for simply n the grounds that it may not be accessible to the public, or available at all times. Those are not rejection criteria. Although uninformed reviewers may believe otherwise. This lends itself more to the poor education that Niantic has done in the past with reviews then anything else.

This wayspot is still fine. If folks are stopping and parking on a active roadway to play there that is on those individuals.

The gym should stay. Just because drivers behave differently than walkers isn't grounds for removal. That's up to real world police or security to enforce, not anyone else. Nothing else about the eligibility has changed. The fountain is still there. It even looks like there's still a sidewalk, which means people could have chosen to park somewhere appropriate and walk, and I'm sure a lot of people probably do.

Driving players are an outlier and should not be counted. 😂
