Not able to withdraw while in voting

But why? You guys know that one nomination blocks every nomination in this and the adjacent S2 Level 17 cells, right? This is part of the reason why submissions in big citites are taking very long. Only one nomination will go into voting, the other will be in the queue for months/years. I submitted something in the nearby city and kept wondering why it's still in queue after 6 months. The reason was another (absolute 1* trash) nomination in the adjacent S2 Level 17 cell. This one garbage nomination blocked my decent nomination, which got accepted later last year.

If you are taking away the chance of withdrawing nominations from the playerbase, we won't be able to withdraw our bad submissions (nominations with placeholder-text)/Duplicates before they're blocking everything nearby. Please reconsider! Also, who came up with this idea? Has this person ever nominated something?

Why? Why isn't this changing? That makes no sense and it also worked in the connection. This is a decision that has no added value, moreover, the majority of the community does not agree with it and I fully support the fact that this option must be given.

  • This is not working as intended. If so, the intentions are mislead. There are plenty of reasons to withdraw a nomination from voting. I have where I mistakenly forgot to move the pin to the correct location. The current location is drastically incorrect, but I cannot withdraw it.

  • Howdy, Team! Feliz Jueves!

I'm having this same issue. I have a nomination 'In Voting' that I know for a fact has been approved and added to the network by another player since I submitted my copy of the contribution in October 2021. The same player and I have already done this once before and have been trying our best to coordinate with one another so not to submit duplicates, but apparently one slipped through. Would be super neat if I could just withdraw it and cycle one of my other nominations into voting instead. I've only ever withdrawn one nomination in my career and I think I only did it because someone declined a baseball field nomination as not being historically significant so I withdrew my other one, figuring they would decline that one too.

    @NianticGiffard & @NianticTintino @NianticDanbocat

I would like to revisit this issue because I still think it is a counterproductive idea not to reverse the decision.

I also have examples that I would like to support with screenshots!

    Example #1:

After my nomination of this sports club was rejected, I naturally submitted this proposal again because I was not satisfied with the judges' decision.

For fear of being rejected again and with the knowledge that I would have to wait a long time for an answer, I did not upgrade the resubmitted nomination. But then Niantic came around the corner and gave us the opportunity to file an appeal against a rejection. I did so and lo and behold (thank you again), my appeal was accepted and the nomination was accepted.

But now the problem, the new nomination is also in the vote. Inevitably, it becomes a duplicate, which isn't the worst. The worst thing is that the nomination pool is now unnecessarily burdened with this. Instead of this nomination, you could now evaluate another nomination instead of one that has long been in the game. This is theoretically a domino effect of wasted time. Because instead of this nomination, another proposal could now slip into the vote. I would like to withdraw this nomination, but it is not possible.

    Example #2:

Through Ingress Prime I have been able to submit nominations for the Niantic games since 2019 and rate them via OPR. Of course, at the beginning I didn't have the greatest idea what exactly constitutes a wayspot. The knowledge was explained to me in part by a friend who was entitled to it some time ago (also the one with deb Cellen and what to look out for if you want to make sure a wayspot appears in PokéMon Go), part through existing wayspots (which should NOT be done, as I've known for a while now) and a part with "where would I like to have a wayspot". You also learn through experience. So I (honestly) initially chose objects & sights that don't really fit the criteria but are in a vacant cell to ensure they can spawn in PokéMon Go! This is how this nomination came about!

I've known for a long time that this nomination is complete nonsense. In addition to the texts, the photo is also more than inadequate. I was never suggested anything like that again, and certainly not in this form. As you can see from the date, this is one of my first nominations. This suggestion has also been in the vote for ages, but because it didn't have any priority, it didn't receive an upgrade either. For a long time I would have liked to withdraw this proposal, BUT IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE.

Now, of course, it came as it had to come. Instead of taking care of my appeals as hoped (after all, they had been upgraded and therefore a higher priority for me), Niantic is now taking care of my 2019 nominations (that makes sense, thanks for that). Now this proposal has rightly been rejected. But what annoys me is that time was wasted here with a nomination that didn't meet the criteria anyway and which I would have withdrawn long ago so that more important or better nominations could have been taken care of. And I'm 1000% sure that others feel the same way who would like to withdraw something where there was a problem with the location, there would be a duplicate because the wayspot already exists or because you know that the nomination is not good and you want to withdraw it due to the lack of quality. So there are only points that speak FOR, why is Niantic ignoring that? I am not the only one with this concern, but there is a large collection of wayfarers who think the same way! A reaction and a new statement from Niantic would be appropriate. At least it was possible in the past. I remember even withdrawing nominations that had been upgraded as well!

(The junction box with the blue tit really exists, it's not a fake)

I know this is an old thread but I just want to add to the chorus. I would really like the ability to withdraw nominations in voting and/or appealed. Three example situations:

    1) I had a strong nomination but found a text error after it went in voting. I didn't want to wait for many months it seems to take in my area just to be rejected for text, so I renominated it and upgraded and my new one was approved right away. Now there is a duplicate sitting in the queue just wasting everyone's time

    2) one of my first nominations has a license plate in it because I did not know about that rule when I was just starting, it was in voting when I learned about this

    3) I had an eligible nomination rejected by the community and used an appeal but someone else got the same feature approved in the meantime.

It would make me feel a lot better to be able to clean up things like this on my end, especially in light of the recent news about consequences for abuse. It's not that I think any of these are abuse, but it would make me feel all the more secure to be able to do this. And, as others have mentioned, for those of us living in long-queue areas it would be nice to be able to pull out some time-wasters to help keep things moving. Thanks.
