Additional information:
There is a portal that has been inaccessible for years in our playing area, and going to it will get you arrested on sight. The land is protected and is home to a leper colony on the Island of Molokai, Hawaii. You can't fly to the local airport without a tour guide, and none of the tours go to the specific portal, and there haven't been tours for a long time because of Covid. Even so, you can't legally walk to the lighthouse because of the leper colony. It's also a no-fly zone so you can't rent a helicopter to hover over it, and going by boat would be a trespass violation.
Barring a night-op like some Navy Seal, you're not getting this portal. Additionally, locals have confirmed that there is absolutely no signal in the area so if you do manage to get to the portal, you won't be able to interact with it anyway. This portal is 100% inaccessible to everyone. Agents have been spoof-hacking keys for it and throwing 15-20 per cycle, at least, for months. Not a single other portal on the island is controlled or captured, so we know there is no one there that plays. A few of us have been able to get keys through killing links, and we have reported it, but it's getting nowhere.
The portal in question is the Kalaupapa Lighthouse. The picture of the lighthouse with the portal key was taken from the Kalaupapa airport about 100 yards away. The picture maybe taken years ago. We don't want anyone banned for spoofing the keys, but the portal needs to be either reset to a neutral state (ideally), or removed entirely. If not removed, there is a chance it could be spoof-captured again, so removing it would be a permanent solution.

Honestly it's baffling how many random people on the west coast also seem to have keys for this portal as well. At present intel map and IITC says there are 16 links going into the lighthouse. 5 are from North America from Mexico up to Canada. While I know Ingress players can be super dedicated, no one has been to that portal to get keys, or hack it, or add resos or mods. And all links shot to it are new because it was spoof flipped back in June. But got reported and Niantic reset it to green.
This portal really needs to be removed, or at the very least reset.
I visited Molokai last year and looked into a hike to take it out. Without breaking several federal laws, there is no legal way. It should be removed as I am not about to risk time in a federal jail.
Appeal Denied - Thanks for the appeal, Agent. We took another look at the Portal in question and decided that it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.
this is so lame, why is it SOOO top secret to not explain why it doesn't "meet your criteria" ...... not useful, and damaging severely to the game , Giffard
what the actual heck? The portal is inaccessible to everyone and has been for almost two years. To get there, you have to go through a leper colony and through Airport Security on a the remote portion of the island.
RECONSIDER! @NianticGiffard
Please see the state website. you cannot access this area. Please reconsider niantic.
If anyone can't visit it (other than islanders) then why did you able to report it?
Anyone being able to go near the object and report it are just breaking your argument that the place doesn't have safe pedestrian access.
