Statesville Burlington Industry Landmark rejected

Why was this rejected, its in a residential neighborhood, speed limit is 25mph which is legal for pedestrian traffic. this is also a subdivision of public housing. when manhole covers in the middle of the street are routinely approved this is screams denial of help to poor neighborhoods.

Be better Niantic, this is a street used by school kids walking, on bikes, buses, and housing traffic. the lack of pedestrian walkway is moot.

So it is a factory that is no longer running? You would need to make a good case for it being historically significant.

Alternatively you could focus on the decorative wall or the insignia which is somewhat artistic rather than nominating the factory.

The weathered logo of a defunct industrial site is not a good place to socialize nor a good place to exercise nor a good place to explore. ‘People used to come here until 25 years ago’ is not a criterion. ‘Nearby residents drive past here’ is not a criterion. This has nothing to do with a classism, this is just ineligible.

The "lack of pedestrial walkway" is unlikly to be considered moot by the Niantic legal team.

I would lean toward not acceptingt his as a wayspot because:

    1) It was a former industrial factory that it does not seem suitable to gather around

    2) The signage seems weathered and it doesn't seem to represent the community like a wall mural would.

    3) I'm not sure if it's save to park and stop on that road. It looks like narrow 2 way traffic.

Try to think of what would draw a public crowd there currently. Like if the building was repurposed for a public gymnasium.

Just fyi - in your initial post you said "Be better Niantic" but it is the player community that has done the review unless you get the "Niantic Review Decision" rejection reason.

The criteria to meet to be an eligible nomination is "a great place of exploration, place for exercise, or place to be social." If you think this meets any of those criteria, you will need to spell it out for reviewers.

If you are seeing "manhole covers in the middle of the street" being accepted, then you need to report those as invalid.

btw, Street View for 325 N Miller Ave, Statesville, NC looks nothing like your nomination. I did find the symbol on Phoenix Street. People do see this stuff when reviewing.
