Clarification: Duplicates

Sometimes submissions are rejected as duplicates, even though the alleged duplicate is a distinct, separate object at another, although nearby location. Could you please provide guidance when or if e.g. multiple hiking trail maps (possibly posted at different trail heads or along a trail) should be considered duplicates?

Also, would it be possible to provide the surrounding area image of the suspected duplicate to the reviewer?

I wonder myself if I've ever clicked "duplicate" and been in error. Some are virtually identical and not easy to notice differences on (unless the nomination states that there is another nearby that is different).
