Biking trail rejections

I have a biking trail near my house in a new community. It doesn’t have an entrance sign because the HOA hasn’t put one up for the 2 years it’s been around. My nomination keeps getting rejected as a “natural feature” even though on the criteria page it says biking trails are acceptable. How come it keeps getting rejected? Thoughts?

Can you post the images on your nomination? Trails are good wayspots but you need to take a photo of a sign or something, not just a road leading into the woods.

If it’s just a path, it probably won’t ever get approved. A trail, like a park, needs a manmade “anchor point” to help determine exactly where the pin location should be, whether that’s a directional marker, name signage, or even a boardwalk or bridge.

As a resident you have the opportunity to be influential here. Go to the HOA, get approval to make and install a permanent sign, and nominate that once it’s up. It’ll be up to you to navigate your own HOA politics (which, in my experience with HOAs, can be pretty obtuse), but if you’re paying for it I like to imagine they’ll want to endorse a spirit of community beautification.

Do be aware that a sign near a house might still get rejected as PRP, depending on how clear the map information is.

  • There is no sign to be able to post. The HOA won’t put up a sign for the trail despite the community asking. I just posted a picture of the entrance to the trail

Well, without some sort of sign or sign this bit of tarmac is never going to be eligible.
