Self-adhesive trail markers in the UK - how to get them accepted?
Firstly, the background for those who don't know, trails in the UK are marked out either with rigid plastic discs nailed to wooden posts, or self-adhesive plastic discs for street furniture like metal lampposts. I actually met two people today who were in the process of marking out a trail, and they basically have a big bag of both types of marker and use whichever one is appropriate.
Now I have no trouble getting the rigid disc type accepted. Indeed, I'm up to about 50 accepted in a row, although it took me two years to figure out how to overcome all the rejections. But I can't for the life of me get the plastic disc kind accepted.
Now, I'm the first to say that the very definition of an acceptable wayspot is something that reviewers will accept - so should I just accept that sticker trail markers are unacceptable? Or is there some special way of nominating them that I have not yet discovered which will guarantee success? Or should I just appeal them?
I know the objections that people have - they think they won't last as long. Well, maybe they won't, but both types will last for many years, and neither will last forever.

Could you provide a photo of the submission that keeps getting rejected?
I don't keep resubmitting it, but I have submitted 2 or 3 like this over the last year or so.
A forum comment by NinaticGiffard states even small trail markers are encouraged Wayspots as they keep people moving along the trail: https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/comment/111955#Comment_111955
I find that including that statement in my supporting information helps trail markers go through that were being rejected. I don't have any experience with stickers, but I have (finally) had success with markers mounted to existing structures like a crosswalk signal.
Is there any link you can also include to prove that these are official markers?
I've rejected one of those in Ireland, it was too temporary in nature for my taste.
The key here indeed, is proof. Otherwise, anyone with a printer can turn every pole in the world into a Wayspot.
Exactly.
Yes the message I'm getting is that people do consider them too temporary, and regardless of whether that argument has any merit, if that is the case then I won't bother nominating them. I do of course provide proof, however, Niantic's official position is now that fake trail markers are fine and dandy:

If I'd be to review that sign i would reject it. I recall reading an AMA saying that trail markers are eligible if they have names/distances on them. I understand that in your country that trail marker could be the canon, but just to bring an example, this is one kind of trail marker I usually accept:
I've had about 50 similar markers accepted in a row : the difference is that they're rigid plastic discs. It's just the sticky ones which I've now accepted won't get accepted.
