How to get the sticker type of UK Trail Markers accepted?

Firstly, the background for those who don't know, trails in the UK are marked out either with rigid plastic discs nailed to wooden posts, or self-adhesive plastic discs for street furniture like metal lampposts. I actually met two people today who were in the process of marking out a trail, and they basically have a big bag of both types of marker and use whichever one is appropriate.

Now I have no trouble getting the rigid disc type accepted. Indeed, I'm up to about 50 accepted in a row, although it took me two years to figure out how to overcome all the rejections. But I can't for the life of me get the plastic disc kind accepted.

I'm the first to say that the very definition of an acceptable wayspot is something that reviewers will accept - so should I just accept that sticker trail markers are unacceptable? Or is there some special way of nominating them that I have not yet discovered which will guarantee success? Or should I just appeal them?

I know the objections that people have - they think they won't last as long. Well, maybe they won't, but both types will last for many years, and neither will last for ever.

I suggest: Appeal and let Niantic show if that's what they meant or not.

I am UK based as well. Personally I am a little concerned about the shear quantity of trail markers that are being accepted. It is getting a bit ridiculous seeing identical trail markers as waypoints every hundred meters apart on some trails. So when I review a trail marker the first thing I look for is does it name the waymarked trail. If it is just an arrow with perhaps a council name on it then I reject it. If it has the name of the trail clearly visible on the marker I would then take a view based on other trail markers in the vicinity. Mostly I would accept them but if there were a lot of them in the area I would be more inclined to 3* one of the stick on markers. Trail markers are eligible but something doesn't sit right with me about the stickers on lamp posts. So whilst I wouldn't reject one I wouldn't consider it a 5* nomination either. Whenever I am in two minds about a nomination I always consider would I nominate/upgrade it myself. In the case of stick on trail markers the answer would be no.

That's really helpful, thanks, I think there's going to be a range of views on this.
