Is Wayfarer broken or do only bots review?
In the last days, not only me, but also fellow wayfarers recieve a lot of strange rejections. However, this only happens with upgraded nominations. The rejection reasons are redicilous. Its really sad to see everything constantly rejected.
Here are some examples:
Whats extremely strange is the rejection reason "live animal" on 5 of the 8 examples. I highly predict review bots or a group of wayfarers/a Person with multiple Accounts to sabotate the review process.
Since then, I live to play "rejection reason bingo" in the local community. I normally get a lot of good feedback from the community on my nominations.
In comparision my "priority area" which needs around two months untio nominations reach a decision:
I know that there is the possibility to appeal such nominations. However, this should not be necessary on EVERY upgraded nomination. It makes the whole review process very frustrating, especially if the rejection reasons are just random trash.
Maybe someone can check those activities and check for patterns?

So the rejection abuse at Southern Germany has switched place?
Apparently yes. Or the area has grown.
I’m experiencing the same in the Netherlands. Every good nomination with an upgrade gets rejected with dumb rejection reasons, such as live animal, fake nomination, obstructs emergency services and etc... these people are just trying to get upgrades themselves quicker by 1* everything as that’s much faster...
This is why we need niantic to finally dive into the appeals, since the review system atleast around our area is extremely broken....
I was wondering the same thing I get a lot of pedestrian access reason when the nomination is literally by sidewalk or at a park. Was wondering if the voters are blind also half the time baseball fields get accepted the other half they get rejected saying not visually unique like **** it doesn’t have to be it’s a sports field.
It's been a hard lesson to learn but after two years I realise that I've never had a rejection without there being a good reason. Now 100% acceptance is the norm except where I've knowingly nominated something marginal, such as historical bridge that I find interesting but that of course others may not.
As for 'live animal' that is right next to something common (is it 'Other Rejection Criteria'?) and so is easy to hit in error. I think if 9 reviewers reject for 'Other' and 1 for 'Live Animal', then 'Live Animal' is what you see.
The rejection reason "Pedestrian access" just got switched with "URL or HTML". Please just ban those reviewers. That's just fed up....
Same here! I got 5 or 6 rejections just today alone where they were marked fake and low quality photo etc etc. The suspicious part it was only in one day, that's why I came to look here to see if there was something going on... This was pretty abnormal even if the reject patrol was on again. (and they say 40 nominations are too many 😂 )
It didn't get "switched" as such. Your nomination was rejected for Licence Plate, Pedestrian Access and URL, but Wayfarer only displays two of these at a time, even though it still allows for three rejection reasons like it did when we got emails. Maybe this issue where only two rejection reasons are displayed when three can be registered on the system is something that the team should look into @NianticTintino.
Obviously in this case all of the rejection reasons are completely incorrect, and that in itself needs investigating too.
I got a city map getting rejected for inaccurate location. Totally visibile on streetview and with the pin right onto it.
now I have a fourth reason with "doesnt meet criteria". four rejection reasons?
I feel like some people just go through and not really take the effort. This submission of mine was dinged for low quality photo and natural features. I didn't think nature created cemet footbridges lol.
But i also dont wanna appeal it since it seems they put the appeals on a back burner. Im better off and resubmitting it.
Can you get a picture without the fence blocking the view? Maybe from the footbridge entrance?
I was recommended by others in the discord to take a head-on photo of the footbridge entrance as the fence seems to be an eye soar. :)
Do the Wayfarer reasons match the email reasons? There was a bug recently, where they didn't. The email reasons made more sense, but the web site reasons were wonky.
Also, when we were begging Niantic to put reasons in emails, they said no - giving people too much info would help them "game the system". We said, so how about throw a random one in sometimes? And they did. In a recent AMA, Niantic admitted they put random reasons sometimes, and said their rewrite would discontinue that.
This is not from the affected area, actually. Please create a separate thread for your complaint.
I thought the rejection email are no more adding the reasons anymore?
we have the same problem in Switzerland 😩
Not sure about No 1 and 2 here, but "Seefische" (No 3) is clearly not eligible as there is "No Pedestrian Access" - it's in the middle ofa water body.
Indeed. Nothing leaps out as being acceptable, to be honest. But without seeing the full nominations it's difficult to say.
It seems there can be as many as 5 rejection reasons and only some of them will be displayed each time you refresh the Contributions page.
We really need a fix for this DESPERATELY!! It seems I have gotten several improper rejects on submissions that should be “slam dunks” lately. I think the threshold for rejections must be set too low or something… I do not ever upgrade my “so-so” nominations. But it’s frustrating when a good nomination gets rejected and the reasons are “Pedestrian access” for a literal trail marker where you can see the trail and a photosphere is submitted as well…. (I do have several other examples lol but I won’t bother, we all know the system is messed up.)
Niantic said they are looking into it. Seems they need a few days for this. Instead of going thru it with the fork, they decided to use the small sieve i guess.
Personally, i would have used the steak fork and peeled the culprits out.
@LukeAllStars-ING im running into the same issue here in the US. Things that should be getting accepted are being denied. It feels purposely if it’s not bots. And I so just want to say it’s bots just to be funny.
I’ve had things that promote exercise, adventure & exploring lately get denied like crazy though on a serious note. A park. A boat launch with sign. Just stuff I’ve normally had accepted pretty easily.
Doesnt make sense
Makes me want to blame it all on new reviewers. Niantic needs to do a better job teaching people what meets criteria vs what doesn’t
Well, the new "15 minute reviewer test with unlimited retries" facility does really sound like it was developed to allow monkeys with keyboard access to join in. You don't need to understand anything anout the criteria, just keep trying and eventually you will get through, though copying the You-tube "how to pass" videos might be a bit faster.
This is what it reminds me of
Come on @NianticGiffard @NianticTintino , you should resolve this rejection abuse already and punish every reviewers involved. Many other players are already mis-thinking that massive rejections abuse over Germany are also affecting their country.
If you guys need some hint, maybe you should investigate whether there is a connection between this rejection abuse, Mara abuse, fake Wayspots in a remote island near Antarctica, and abuse reports from @LukeAllStars-ING (at which, the abusers might took their revenge now).
I have heard stories like this in the past.
The story comes from the Pokémon GO trainers' strategies.
Players were told that they could get upgrade rights to nominations faster if they rejected all of them with one star, rather than seriously reviewing each one.
I don't know if this is true or not, as this is what I have heard as well.
However, I can infer the following when thinking about this matter.
Many of the nominees are of a quality that will be rejected, so they can be acquired faster.
Even if their rank is POOR, they can earn counts to get an upgrade.
Being a POOR reviewer does not affect your right to nominate.
If this guess is correct, the Wayfarer team needs to fix the system.
They need to make sure that these reviewers are not affected by their reviews so that they do not get an upgrade and are barred from nominating.
