I've spotted very similar bugs myself, sometimes not fully like yours - mostly a partial decline in existing waypoints on the duplicate map. Happens really often, as long as i get to review form area i'm familiar with i see it really well.
I just started having the duplicate map only display one nearby wayspot, in an area where I know that there are numerous other wayspots.
@NianticAtlas @NianticTintino @NianticGiffard @NianticAaron This is a subtle but wayfarer system breaking bug. See my photo post still in review.
After reading this I went back and checked on one I thought was weird from a few days ago. This is a serious problem and likley already resulted in duplicates being added to the system.
After checking every new review I found another one. My rate has been about 1 in 10.
Very next review is also bugged. Would have accepted this one but it is actually a duplicate.
I recorded my stats planning to review 50 and see how many had this bug. There were so many I ended the study early at 30 reviews. Out of 30 reviews there were 8 with this bug. 8! That is 26.6% of reviews!!!!
This one is missing a few that I would expect to show up on nearby.
And another one.
more data.
This might be another
Another. This is a serious problem that is compromising the integrity of the wayfarer database. Please Shut Down Reviewing until this is fixed!!!

I'm just going until I hit 30 reviews.
That's a lot of photo posts approved without any comments on this issue.
Thanks for surfacing this, @LukeAllStars-ING, and hi everyone! I'll be sending over this matter to the concerned team for investigation.
@NianticGiffard good morning!
if you want, here's another example. Only 2 wayspots displayed nearby (matching portals highlighted on intel screenshot, bottom two). The two portals right on hospital grounds is displayed on intel (top two highlighted) but not on duplicates panel.

Actually, just noticed that "check for duplicates" list not showing everything is somewhat random. In our local review group, we came across this:
However:
Note how the above wayspot wasn't in the list of duplicates. BUT what's more interesting was that when someone else reviewed this, they did see the above in the duplicate check list.
This is a pretty bad bug if some reviewers see the duplicate and some don't.
Edit: here's a screenshot from another reviewer on the same wayspot, see the difference in the duplicate check list?
Edit: duplicate post
@NianticGiffard how should we proceed with not displayed duplicates now? Reject? Accept? Just let them time out? I let mine time out but waiting 20 minutes per review is really annoying.
Another example
Thanks guys for sharing the examples!
You can continue reviewing the submissions with the information available until then.
Personally I'd let it time out, given that for the same nomination, some reviewers will see the correct duplicate check list and some won't, it means one set of those people will miss out on an agreement. Hit enough of those, it might even affect your ratings.
Depending on how many out of area reviewers you get, some duplicates will undoubtedly end up getting through.
This may not be a serious issue, but it is a concern considering the reputation and the possibility of duplicate wayspots.
This seems to be an issue that arose when we merged the wayspot databases for each game into Lightship, so hopefully it can be resolved soon.
As far as the Lightship database is concerned, there is a problem with sponsored wayspots showing up in the same location, and sponsors and sponsor compliant wayspots that only show up in certain games are not registered in the Lightship database, and therefore do not show up in nominations and reviews.
This has been discussed several times here and on the Ingress forums, and I'm sure the wayfarer team has received reports of this problem.
It would be nice if this could be resolved as well.
The bug is still active.
Not sure if more examples are helpful but here's another bad one from Greenwood Village, CO
What I noticed today:
Not only is existing wayspots not showing in Wayfarer, but when I refreshed/reload the page, even more nearby Wayspots dissappeared from Wayfarer.
1st: 3 nearby wayspots dissappeared on refresh. Unfortunately, I did not screenshot Wayfarer. Only screenshot Intel. Location of nomination reviewed 5.331613,100.459946.
2nd: Only one nearby wayspot showing. On reload, both nearby wayspots dissappeared from Wayfarer. Location of nomination reviewed 4.573518,101.142604.
Initially, only the bottom wayspot (The Kid Swings) visible in Wayfarer. On reload, both wayspots (portals in Ingress) vanished from Wayfarer (as per picture on left).
3rd: Most wayspots dissappeared on reload. Location of nomination reviewed 7.563449,99.605242.
When I tried to login with another browser, the missing wayspots remained missing.
Another one. This time, Wayfarer straight away says there are "No Wayspots nearby" on first load, without even reloading.
But there are 4 wayspots nearby in Ingress Intel.
Location: 6.345834,116.42646
I've just had 3 nominations in a row where this happened. It's basically impossible to review right now with this and the frequent log outs combined.
