It was declined for lack of pedestrian access. It’s a park. There is grass . This is getting so frustrating . Is this worth trying again? How should I word it or better crop the pics?

Unfortunately, because there is not a path leading directly to the fountain itself, there is no pedestrian access to the POI, and therefore not eligible. I nominated a fountain in the middle of a lake too, and that's the reason. Peoplr have to be able to physically touch it, so fountains and objects in lakes are ineligible.
It's an aerator, not a fountain. And being in the middle of the pond is obviously no safe pedestrian access.
To add to what the others have said, you may want to work on your supporting info for future nominations.
"zero stops for players" and "a gym would be nice too" have nothing to do with Wayfarer or what criteria you think the submission meets (though in this case it has been correctly rejected for pedestrian access).
Assuming you submit something valid, you want to use the supporting info to explain to reviewers how you think your nomination meets the criteria (exploration, exercise or social) and if you do want to refer to the system, use game neutral terminology (for example, use "wayspot" instead of "Pokéstop" or "Portal"), as you are submitting a wayspot rather than a Pokéstop or Portal, and your submission may not make it into your own game of choice depending on what the inclusion rules are for that game.
As said by my colleagues, it's not a fountain but an aerator for a pond, so nothing interesting or eligible.
Btw, it's not the reviewers who choose if a Waypoint is used, and for what usage, in games.
That is a correct rejection. I would not resubmit coal like that.
They are not fountains. They are functional items to aerate ponds and reduce mosquitoes and algae.

Straightforward "1* no Pedestrian access" rejection. Whether it's a fountain or an aerator, it's in the middle of a lake, so there is obviously "No Pedestrian Access". "Lack of nearby Pokestops" is not an acceptance criteria.
