Wayfarer 4.6 Release Notes

Hi Explorers!
A bit of a late release but we’ve actually focussed on onboarding new team members! We’re looking forward to bringing you more packed releases moving forward.
Here’s what’s new:
- Removed the Edit button for contributions IN VOTING
- Server support for forthcoming feature to HOLD submissions that are NOT IN VOTING
- Appeals emails now being sent (you were receiving the regular contribution decision emails)
Please note that we plan to reactivate Appeals in the Wayfarer portal by the end of March 2022. We are still processing the ones that were submitted prior.
Thanks and Safe Exploring!

End of March is optimistic. Have you got the new staff on nothing but Appeals for a while?
So removing the Edit button means you are committed to not letting us withdraw nominations that have become duplicates since going into voting? Just have to leave it clogging up the queue.
I'm surprised they said which year this is supposed to happen 😅
Oh and YAY! new team members =)
Does that mean no personalized rejection reasons like promised @NianticTintino-ING @NianticDanbocat ?
@NianticTintino-ING, in the Wayfarer 4.4 announcement when appeals were introduced, it was stated that "Niantic will review your appeal and send you an email when a decision has been made, with a written explanation from us", however the emails we get regarding appeals are generic and do not provide any such written explanation aside from typical (and often useless) rejection reasons that we may find on the Wayfarer website.
Have written explanations been scraped, and if not, when can we expect to begin seeing them?
Additionally in that same announcement, you had stated for appeals that "Review times are not guaranteed at this time, but we will be tracking it over time to see whether the appeal limits could be adjusted."
Given that Niantic has now finally begun reviewing appeals and has had the chance to review a much higher than anticipated number given that people were unintentionally able to appeal 1 per day, can you provide any updates as to whether we may see the appeal limits be adjusted?
We have been receiving emails for appeals that were rejected or accepted but ones that were duplicates are still receiving the regular contribution emails. Photos in following post.
Wish it was possible to remove appealed stops tho!
As i appealed and waited a long while and nothing happened so i submitted again and got accepted so there will be alot a duplicates from me!
Sorry team reviewing appeals! 😅
What about Niantic's promise to review "Generic Business" rejects first? And then other rejections from before the criteria change?
Here's one of several times it was said, from https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/help/niantic-wayfarer-november-2020-ama
With the updated criteria, there was a promise to rereview previously rejected nominations that may meet the updated requirements. How will that work?
While this is a big effort, we are already working on reviewing past rejections starting with the Generic Business category. Keep an eye on the forum for updates on other efforts related to this initiative.
Well thats irritating I've only had one of my appeals done, but they will be getting opened up again even though originally they were going to clear the backlog first. Now I'll be lucky if my appeals get seen before 2023 at the rate they go (I'm exaggerating but not by muc)
Can you put the new appeals in a backlog so they can be reviewed once the ones that are in the system now have been answered?
@NianticTintino-ING@NianticDanbocat@NianticGiffard
Example #1:
After my nomination of this sports club was rejected, I naturally submitted this proposal again because I was not satisfied with the judges' decision.
For fear of being rejected again and with the knowledge that I would have to wait a long time for an answer, I did not upgrade the resubmitted nomination. But then Niantic came around the corner and gave us the opportunity to file an appeal against a rejection. I did so and lo and behold (thank you again), my appeal was accepted and the nomination was accepted.
But now the problem, the new nomination is also in the vote. Inevitably, it becomes a duplicate, which isn't the worst. The worst thing is that the nomination pool is now unnecessarily burdened with this. Instead of this nomination, you could now evaluate another nomination instead of one that has long been in the game. This is theoretically a domino effect of wasted time. Because instead of this nomination, another proposal could now slip into the vote. I would like to withdraw this nomination, but it is not possible.
Example #2:
Through Ingress Prime I have been able to submit nominations for the Niantic games since 2019 and rate them via OPR. Of course, at the beginning I didn't have the greatest idea what exactly constitutes a wayspot. The knowledge was explained to me in part by a friend who was entitled to it some time ago (also the one with deb Cellen and what to look out for if you want to make sure a wayspot appears in PokéMon Go), part through existing wayspots (which should NOT be done, as I've known for a while now) and a part with "where would I like to have a wayspot". You also learn through experience. So I (honestly) initially chose objects & sights that don't really fit the criteria but are in a vacant cell to ensure they can spawn in PokéMon Go! This is how this nomination came about!
I've known for a long time that this nomination is complete nonsense. In addition to the texts, the photo is also more than inadequate. I was never suggested anything like that again, and certainly not in this form. As you can see from the date, this is one of my first nominations. This suggestion has also been in the vote for ages, but because it didn't have any priority, it didn't receive an upgrade either. For a long time I would have liked to withdraw this proposal, BUT IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE.
Now, of course, it came as it had to come. Instead of taking care of my appeals as hoped (after all, they had been upgraded and therefore a higher priority for me), Niantic is now taking care of my 2019 nominations (that makes sense, thanks for that). Now this proposal has rightly been rejected. But what annoys me is that time was wasted here with a nomination that didn't meet the criteria anyway and which I would have withdrawn long ago so that more important or better nominations could have been taken care of. And I'm 1000% sure that others feel the same way who would like to withdraw something where there was a problem with the location, there would be a duplicate because the wayspot already exists or because you know that the nomination is not good and you want to withdraw it due to the lack of quality. So there are only points that speak FOR, why is Niantic ignoring that? I am not the only one with this concern, but there is a large collection of wayfarers who think the same way! A reaction and a new statement from Niantic would be appropriate. At least it was possible in the past. I remember even withdrawing nominations that had been upgraded as well!
(The junction box with the blue tit really exists, it's not a fake)!
I got this response from a specific appeal, although it is true that the email is somewhat different, it does not mention that they will give me +1000AP and the key to discover the portal in Ingress.
PS: The portal is already in Intel Map, and I have the key, although I couldn't tell if I received the AP, so I guess so.
I hope this feature of Appeals will return soon, I find it quite useful.😏
Honestly where do I sign up to help with all of this backlog? Reviewing does help but here are other things that are not part of the main Wayfarer experience and the faster and efficiently we get those doe we can move onto newer projects.
Today is March 30, but nothing has changed yet.
They still have all day tomorrow to announce that
Appeals are back onthere’s a delay to switching Appeals back on.Appeals are available for me and friends. I actually already submitted one!
