Nomination rejected as duplicate , but it's not

Is it possible to appeal to Niantic if a nomination has been rejected as a duplicate while it's clearly not a duplicate, meaning some reviewers did a very crappy job?
I could resubmit it, but don't want it to end up as duplicate again, and I also would like a reputation drop for those who marked it as duplicate :-D

Are you absolutely sure it's not a duplicate? Since the 20 metre rule was reinstated, there are wayspots in the database that don't show in Ingress, and depending on the level 17 cells, they may also not show in Pokémon Go either.
Have you seen your photo get added to another portal?
I'm not exactly sure how these things are being seen, I have played in this place for years in Pokemon go. I submitted a photo of a sculpture that I know for a fact is not a pokey stop and it was rejected. Not exactly sure why because as I said above I know for a fact that this is not a pokestop. Please help
Give us some more details of your nomination so we can look and see if it is an Ingrss portal already.
I submitted a portal for surfer statue (you can see its shadow here, it's under a tree). The statue is right next to Hangout Hand portal, which itself has been moved to a corner (yet another my report that was rejected and will need to be appealed).
So unless when you do OPR, you can see portals that have been approved but are not yet live, I am pretty sure it's not a duplicate.
I just had the same thing happen to me. It's a brand new planted tree that doesn't have a stop yet. I submitted it the day I saw it. Unless the stop was put in and miraculously made one right after by someone else, it is not a duplicate. I want to see the duplicate pic for proof of it being one.
If you have an Ingress account, you can check the intel map. If not, please provide location details or GPS coordinates for your nomination, and screenshots of your nomination.
Why would you submit a planted tree as a POI?
You simply can't say "it's not a duplicate" now, unfortunately, because these days there are lots of waypoints that do not appear in ANY game, and you have no way of knowing if their POI is already in the database or not.
It's very frustrating, but that's the way it is. There should be some way of checking what is in the database!
I once submitted a shrine's hall that unfortunately was a little too close to the shrine's stage, which I submitted at the same time, and which got more quickly accepted as an Ingress portal. So the hall was "accepted, but can't be brought live" (this was several years ago, before the whole Lighthouse revamp).
A couple of months ago, when the "20m rule" was temporarily relaxed, I resubmitted the hall, but it came back rejected as a "duplicate", even though it's not a portal in Ingress.
Which is a real shame, since the hall is a designated municipal historic monument, while the stage is not; if one of the two should take priority, it should be the hall, not the stage.
@exculcator-ING I was thinking that in Ingress you can see everything.
I am in the same situation. I have a portal approved but it is within the 20 meter radius of another portal, so this spot can't appear either in Pokemon or in Ingress. So, since this stop now is registered in the map system, trying to repropose it will end in a DUPLICATE obviously.
Is there a way to solve this situation? Maybe asking for a removal for the wayspost that doesn't appear?
Well the wayspot exists, and I'm assuming it's at that location, otherwise it wouldn't have been accepted there, so removal isn't likely going to be an option. You'll just have to deal with it not showing in either Ingress or Pokémon Go.
Yes yes, I understood that from other discussions too. The portal is valid and that's is location, so the portal must exist (as it has been accepted). I was just wondering if the fact that it is not showing in any game is an intentional "feature" for future games or a database error 😆 (considering that before Lightship these kind of nomination were accepted but not imported in any database).
You can nominate using Pokemon Go to check if there's a wayspot in Lightship (tides have turned and now Ingress lacks this feature)
Yes, the POI in in Lightship database. It can't appears neither in Ingress or PoGo. It is lost forever (at the moment) 😫
How do I check in this Lightship?
The answer to the question at hand is: yes, you can appeal a nomination flagged as duplicate, I did exactly that in december, and it has been successfully processed.
The backstory: https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/21507/submission-marked-as-duplicate-but-it-isnt-please-rectify
The tl;dr version is that there are two tennis courts in the same street (but half a kilometre apart), and some *brilliant* reviewers decided to flag the second one as a duplicate of the first one. Back in august I asked on the forum if they could be split, but of course I was unsuccessful. But when they opened appeals in december, that's the first thing I did, and the two tennis courts are now separate. As a side effect of this unusual acceptance, the first court *still* has the pictures of both of them, but aside from that, everything went smooth.
I don't see a resolution in that thread. Did Niantic reply to you?
No. I posted that link only to provide the backstory, but nothing happened back then. As I said, I had to use a proper appeal once they've been made available on December.
Was the appeal on this forum? Or was it thru a form?
Are you for real? Go to your rejected (or duplicated) submission in the wayfarer website, and you'll see an "appeal" button which will escalate it to Niantic.
I never noticed that button before. I just went to check and noticed it. Thanks!
